    Rmb-1075 + Rmb-1080 ?

    Hello everyone,

I am planning to upgrade my current system (5.1, see signature below for full details) to a 7.1 system with a pair of MonitorAudio GS60.

I have to admit that this new system will be the heart of a brand new HC + Stereo system in my new house (in construction ). GS60 will run both Strereo and Surround, the 4 GS20 will then become the surrounds (quite high-end surrounds, I agree !)

So, my question to you is : do you think it would make sens to power the GS60 with a new ROTEL RMB-1080 (+current RMB-1075 for center + surrounds) or is it better to go with the digital version RMB-1077 (that would also replace my RMB-1075) ?

The RMB-1080 is rated 2X200w which would be just great for the GS60 (quite demanding).

What do you think about this choice ? Any advice or comments ?

    Thank you in advance,

    Cheers,

    Len

You should try to listen to both amps, and broken in ones at that, on your speakers. The RMB-1077 is a great amp, but the RB-1080 is wonderful as well. I like the sound of the RMB-1077 better, but you may not. If the GS60 is a very demanding speaker (I've not heard them) both amps will work well, but the RB-1080 may work better with them for two channel listening. Either way you're getting great sounding amps.

However, if you want to save space then the choice is easy, the RMB-1077.

      RMB1077 and RSX1057 system
      by bullitt731
I was planning on using an RSX1057 as a processor with an RMB1077 hooked up to a pair of B&W 804s and a HTM3s. Orignally I thought I would biamp and biwire the L and R fronts using 4 channels of the RMB1077 while using the remaining 3 channels to drive the center and back surrounds.

I have a Linn Unidisk SC (pre/pro and SACD/CD) and am about to buy either B&W 703 or 805 speakers and am looking for an HT amp to drive this system.

I have a budget of <=2kUS for the amp and wanted to know if you thought the 1075 would be sufficient. I am looking at the Halo...

I am in the process of selecting components and speakers for a new HT. I haven't selected a 7.1 processor yet, but am thinking of the following setup:

      Room - 19' x 15' x 8.5' (converted 2-car garage well sound insulated)
      (2) RMB1075 total 10 channels 200W per into 4 ohms
