What has happened to the new Rotel?

Several weeks ago Rotel had the newa on several web sites announcing the immenent arrival of their new preamp. I think the number was RC 1060. For the past week or so I have not been able to find any mention of the event. Wondered if I was not looking in the right place. JNorth1178

I have been interested in the new Rotel preamp that has been announced. But for the last week or so I have not been able to find anything on any web site regardiing the preamp, when it is expected etc. Wonder if I have been looiking in the wrong places or have they withdrawn it. JNorth1178

The only surround piece that has been anounced is a receiver, the RSX-1058. They have no new surround preamps coming until later this year. Maybe around CEDIA which is in September. They do have a new stereo preamp the RC-1082 that is shipping next month at $1200.00.

The new stereo preamp? It's an RC-1082. If it was on the website it was a mistake. Rotel usually doesn't update the site until after things ship.

There seems to be a lot of new recievers coming in the couple of months which can support PCM via HDMI. I hope rotel sees that. It will be a real dissapointment if the the HDMI is for switching only.

You can say that again. Its killing me I cant take advantage of the audio on blu-ray movies (using a PS3 so no multi-channel out). So much so I am seriously considering getting a receiver to hold me over to replace my 1068. This way, if rotel drops the ball and doesnt do audio at least I didnt have to wait to find out. I just wish there was some solid facts about what will and wont be included.

This is a little off the original topic, but I have been told for sure the RSX-1058 will receive audio over HDMI. According to the guys in tech support that includes uncompressed multi channel PCM. It will NOT do any of the new Dolby or dts "HD" formats. Since it hasn't started sipping yet I haven't confirmed that first hand, but I plan to as soon as I can put one on display!

The RSX-1058 will handle audio over HDMI. Since the replacements for the RSX-1067, RSP-1068, and the RSP-1098 are a little ways off (they may show them at CEDIA in September if rumors hold true), I would bet they will do the "HD" formats when they ship.

So is it possible any new rotel pre/pros wont be in stores till '08? Its looking more and more like I will be replacing the 1068. Thats a bummer because I dont like buying place holders.

Aside from the 1058, expect nothing else in the surround department until 1st quarter 2008 at least.

Bummer but in a way could be good thing I guess. With a release date that far out I am hopeful it will allow time to include the features many of us are waiting for.

I called Rotel and asked them when the 1082 stereo preamp would be available. They said it should be hitting the shelves in two or three weeks. JNorth1178
