    RSX 1065 needed critical adjustment

Hi everyone....Have a question. I have a 4 year old RSX 1065 thats really been a great unit. I resently had a EPROM and Firware upgrade. Not long ago the unit started acting up by running hotter then it every had before and the cooling fans would run only after 15 minutes of very light use. Really the fans never came on before even when pushed. I just got my unit back a few days ago after the local Rotel dealer could not fix the problem and it had to be sent to Rotel USA to have the tech's there repair the unit. The explaination for problems where that a "critical adjustment" had to be performed to the Bias of one of the channels. They ran a test with the unit at volume 72 all channels driven for one hour and the unit is now working fine. After having the unit running at home for a couple hours it's working great again. CAn anyone explain to me what happened to my unit...what it is they actually did to repair it and what can i do to prevent this from happening again ?

    Thank.....Rob.

Not sure what would have caused it to change, but I believe the BIAS settings deal with the transition of the amp from class A to class B. Class B has downsides at low volume, and class A has issues with heat at high power.

Sounds like the bias was set to leave it in class A mode longer then it should be, causing the increased heat.

I would imagine it was some type of part failure that caused the BIAS level it was set to to no longer be correct, but I suppose it could be easy for a borderline setting to drift into a wrong setting over time.

        CA-2200 bias
        by aarsoe
        Hi

Does anyone have any experiences with having their CA2200 sent in for a bias adjustment?
Reason I ask is that the one I have purchased some time ago seems to sound a bit leaner that the loaner unit I had at my house for a couple of weeks.
        Have always suspected that this...

I've had great support from Classe over the years, even on my 10 year old cav-75 long since out of warranty. I had an issue with it over heating and triggering the protection circuits (and occasionally popping a fuse in the process). Classe said bias current can drift over time and they had trim pots...

        Rotel 1065 v. 1055 v. 1066
        by spacey
        All,

I am seriously considering the purchase of a Rotel 1065 receiver, and have been reviewing the posts on this forum. I note that there is a lot of info on the 1066+Amp, and 1055, but relatively little on the 1065. I will be using it with B&W N804, N805, and HTM2.

How can Power Failure cause 1065 to lose all settings?
        by ejfiii
How in the world can this happen. I leave for work at about 7:30 am and leave the plasma and 1065 on so my wife can watch tv during the day. Long story, but I havent got the ir system working yet, so I cant teach her to turn everything on and off yet.

So anyway, I come home from work...

Help with RSX-1065 and 7.1 Setup please!
        by ejfiii
Hi, sorry for the noobie post, I tried to search and came up dry.

I just bought a 1065 to form the backbone of my new and first HT. I have an older Acurus A250 2 channel amp that I intended to use for the two front main speakers, thus freeing up the 5 1065 internal channels for the center...
