RSP-1068 firmware update gone bad! Help!!!

    Hello Rotel owners/users,

I attempted to update the firmware on this unit today
which was originally running ver 1.1.3. Downloaded
the required files (ver 1.2.2), printed out the
instructions and followed them exactly as mentioned.
The MTTY application is running on my laptop which is
running Windows 2000 Profesional. The application
came up fine, went through all the settings and
started the process up until it reached the point
    where the MTTY application shows...

    >> Select download binary file

After that I am supposed to get prompted to select the
download file. I waited 10 minutes and never got
prompted to select a download file. I disconnected
the MTTY application and now my RSP-1068 will not
power on. It is maybe because its memory has been
erased and it does not know how. Can you tell me how
to get this unit back up/running as well as updating
the firmware to the latest release? Please help!!! I hope
I did not completely fry my 1068 ops: and it needs to be
sent in. BTW, I emailed Rotel Tech support as well but not
if they will respond before Monday.
    Thank you.

Bump...Is there anyone who can help or should I wait to speak to Rotel and send it in for them to investigate? Thanks. I understand that Rotel had mentioned that they are not responsible for any such issues and the most a customer can do is to ship the unit in...I just wanted to see if any of the forum members had experienced my pain as well and whether they were able to resolve it locally as opposed to shipping it North Reading, MA.

It won't bring up the menu in the MTTY program. It's just prompts you on screen to start the transfer. Per the instructions you need to click on TRANSFER, SEND FILE (TEXT).

Just start over and select the transfer menu in MTTY. Hopefully disconnecting and trying to turn it on with the firmware erased hasn't damaged it.

Thank you Kevin D. That was it! For some reason I was expecting the MTTY application to bring up the menu. Followed your advice and bingo :T I am now set on version 1.2.2. The other questions which I have for you (and I will not hold you responsible if anything goes wrong)

        a) Should I flash the EPROM as well available on the Rotel side? Is that something which is required?

        b) Should I upgrade to the version 1.2.5 of the firmware posted on this forum. Are there are functional benefits on doing that?

At the very least getting the unit to turn back on is a blessing

Only if you use the 7ch stereo mode a lot would I update the eeprom. I'm pretty confident 1.2.5 is an official release, but it doesn't really add much that I see.

Thank you again for the prompt response. It is appreciated. I am good for now until I use the MTTY application

I would like to share my 2nd upgrade experience with you so hopefully you would not run into the same issues I had. I have a Rotel RSX-1057; however, the issue described below would apply to any upgrade as it was not a Rotel problem.

As the subject says ... be very careful when doing firmware upgrades or actually do not do this yourself.

                Here is my little story:
For some investigation for the Dolby Digital EX problems, I had contact with someone from Parasound. However since I had an older firmware version...
