DVD audio and on screen menus

Hi,
I'm new to Rotel equipment and surround sound and am hoping for some help/advice.When playing dvd audio discs using a rdv 1050 connected to a rsx 1057, whenever the multi input is selected I lose the video menu screen.Is this normal?

You need to go to the receiver's Setup menu, and specify the correct Video input for that sound mode. For example, it may be set to Video 1 by default, when you need Video 2 instead.

For DVD-Audio discs, you sometimes need to see the video from the disc in order to pick the appropriate track (e.g., 5.1 vs. 2.0 channel). However, I prefer to put my tv on Discovery HD or something like that while listening to hi-rez surround music.

Yes, Blindammod is correct. You have to select what video input you are plugged in. Yes, the default could be different than what the sound input is ,so you will see NO picture. Put video on the Multi Input for High Rez such as DVD-A ,and select what input you want such as Video 1 or 2 etc....
In DVD-A I personally let the DVD show it's picture and title of songs etc... ON while I listen to the music. You have to go to extension for that or Multi input for that, and in that set up ,choose to have video ON !!!
