RMB 1077, Noone talks about it anymore

Has it fallen out of favour or is it still the bees knees for the hifi enthusiast with limited funds?

I feel the 1077 is more for the HT enthusiast. And I would not classify $2500 for a 7 channel amp being for those with limited funds.

I was just thinking last night how much I love mine. It sounds as good as it looks. Sounds amazing when outputting DD+, True HD and lossless PCM

True, but that works out at $350 per channel, which sounds better. Pity there isn't a 2 or 5 channel version available.

I couldn't agree more! I'm extremely pleased with mine. :T

It's a great sounding multi-channel amp. It replaced all my old parasounds for a fraction of the size and weight.

At first I thought it would have trouble with the low end since it was replacing a 250watt Hca-2200II but it held pretty well, even better I think, with more detail.

Just remember that this amp needs at least 3 days of break-in time to get some volume and bass out.

          Energy efficient as well.

2ch version, RB-1072, should be out in March/April. Uses a slightly newer version of the ICE module, so could sound even better.

Would the RB-1082 be internationally available?

              That would be sweet.

I would only need a five channel, could you use this to bi-amp the fronts if you choose to do that type of thing?

                  Supposedly, a 5ch 100wpc one is in the works. I'd like to see both a 100wpc and a 200wpc 5ch version

                    Ted,

An excellent idea. I actually bi-amped my front three channels (B&W Nautilus). Very happy with results. You could also use the extra channels for a second zone if you want. The 7 channels does provide flexibility.
Excellent sound in a small package.

My bi-amp trial was great but it added a level of sibilance for some female preformers. I used 2 pairs of xlo ultra6.

After several weeks I tried the bi-wired ultra12's and the sibilance disappeared. I detected no lost in detail but there is an increase in bass. So I personally would not recommend bi-amping the rmb-1077, hardly any benefit. Just get better cables ops:

Just to clarify some details. My speakers were Tannoy Sensys DC2's and I was still using a Marantz SR6300 as a pre/processor. I've moved on to the Rsp 1068 since then.

Kevin, I suppose you are referring to the RB-1072 (2x100W), right ? I can't wait for Rotel to release the "true" RB-1082...

I'm still tryinjg to decide whether to get the Rotel or the Bel Cantos. Then again if I got the Bel Canto's I could well end up with a Rotel for the surrounds anyway, so perhaps I should just start with the Rotel and see if its good enough. But I would be using it to biamp the fronts using my DEQX as a digital crossover.

This post is a bit lengthy, but I wanted to get all of my thoughts in. I recently purchased a Rotel 1077 amp. Below are my impressions after about 3 weeks. First, to give context to the 1077’s performance, I want to quickly review were I was and how I got to where I am now. I have B&W N804’s...

A week ago I took the opportunity to audition Rotel's newest power amplifier member, the RMB-1077. It was a first impression that... well... didn't impress but it didn't unimpress either. This stands to reason as the competition was rather unfair to start with. The results were hardly surprising...

I've waited a while to post this, because I wanted to really run through the paces. My old system consisted of a RSP1098, RMB1095, a RMB1066 (with four channels bridged for center rears), and a RDV1040. The new system has a new 1098, the 1077, and a RDV1050.

So aside from the 1050 (that...
