a "catastrophic" error with my 1068

I have had my 1068 in for repair for a while now and i guess finally they had a chance to look at it. Apparently the power source, audio and video boards failed. According to rotel this is a catastrophic error. Rather then fix the unit Rotel is going to replace it. I asked my dealer what could have caused it and he said he didnt know. Anyone have an idea, so perhaps I can change something to avoid it? Its plugged into a Richard Grey, and the only issue I can see is with heat as its in a small area, but I use fans and it never felt to warm to me.

    Van,
I was wondering if you were using a surge protector or a power conditioner.

Richard Grey 600s Power Conditioner/Surge Protector. Nothing else plugged in had an issue.

Usually heat is the culprit, but check for the following posibilities: static electricity, exposed wiring, or perhaps it was just a defective 1068. Just my quick thoughts.

        Peace and blessings,

If the power supply failed, I would imagine it could take out a lot of stuff on it's way out.

              Weird hum problem with 1068
              by Pez
Finally got my 1068 last night and hooked it up, unfortunately there was a pronounced hum coming from all the speakers.

Here is where it gets strange. The outlet I was using was the same outlet I was using with previous equipment and there was no hum then. In fact, the outlet itself...

Man, there sure seems to be some confusion on this topic, reading through history. Anyway, my situtation is unique and I'm looking for any suggestions on a solution. I recently came home with a brand new RSP-1068 to replace my aged Marantz AV600/DP870 combo. Stopped at Radio Shack on the ride home...

              Weird surge protector failure
              by Lex
Last night was watching a movie, and all at once "Pop", my DVD player was off. Upon further examination, TiVo was off, as well as Satellite receiver. Looked a little further, and my Panamax Max1000 was completely out, no lights at all. So, I tried to get my DVD player back on, freaking out...
