    Rotel RB-976

    Hi,
Does anyone have or have used this amp before? I am looking to consilidate my center and surround amps into one. I have a B&W CDMCNT center and B&W CDM1NT's for surrounds. This Rotel can be bridged to 150 x 3.

    What are your thoughts? Thanks
    Steel

It's highly comparable to the RMB-1066. I wouldn't recommend it for surround duty, especially in bridged mode. But others have used it with success.

      Hi Kevin,
Thanks for your input. Just curious why you do not recommend its use for surrounds or bridged?
      Thanks,

In bridged mode you get a lot higher distortion levels then in non-bridged mode. In regular mode the 60watts are not going to be enough for your CDM1's.

          Hi Kevin,
Thanks, that makes sense. I will try to find an amp that I do not have to bridge. I am running an Adcom 535, 60w x 2 on the 1NT's with no problem at all. The 535 is a very underated amp though. Thanks

            Will RSX-1056 improve with a RB976 amp and does rsx1056 = rsp1066
            by mike.g
            I have a RB976 6 channel amp
            http://europe.rotel.com/support/pdfs/manuals/Rb976.pdf

It drives my M&K k17's and K4's all of which are rated at 4 ohm.

The amp's specs are rated at 4 ohm and it is very clear the amp should and can drive 4 ohm speakers on all channels....

            Wanted: RB976 Mk II manual
            by GDEvans
I hope somebody can help me. I have recently purchased a second hand RB976 Mk II, but it came without a manual.

I emailed Rotel and they sent me a pdf of the original manual (same as on their website) claiming it was the latest version.

Is anybody out there kind enough...

            rb976 : rb956ax : Link inputs
            by dcluley
On the rb976 one can link the inputs to all 3 stereo channels via a switch, yet on the rb956ax there is not that ability. If one were to make a 3 headed "Y" cable and plug the preamp out into all 3 channels on the rb956 - would that not act the same as the "switch"? Except opening...

Zaph ZA5.3 MTM in a Steel Tube?
            by ---k---
Crazy idea time. I'm stealing this from a post at the PE Forum by Spasticteapot. He wondered about using steel tube for enclosures. I'm not sure if he did anything with it, because he had problems getting tube steel. I'm a structural engineer - I don't have problems getting tube steel. So, today I picked...

            RMB 1066 in BRIDGED MODE??
            by Jsapp
I am considering purchasing an RMB 1066 to go with my RSX 1055. What I would do is run the 1066 in BRIDGED Mode giving 3 X 150 W for my fron speakers Paradigm Monitor 7, and CC 370. these speakers are 8 ohms and faairly sensative (about 93 db on the 7s) I would let the internal amps on the 1055 run...
