    Intro to Rotel Club

I am an old school audiophile...I also sold Rotel and other 'mid-fi' products at a stereo outlet in Vancouver, Canada for 2 years back in the 1980's.

I still have my old Harmon Kardon integrated amp I bought when I was 14 years old (PM 640 integrated amp, RCD 940BX, Mission 700 speakers).

The problem I have run into with my Rotel CD player (RCD 940BX) is that the button to play etc. keep wearing out and falling off the machine. I had them replaced twice already, fortunately within warranty.

This, the third time, the buttons have broken off again..and additionally the CD player will no longer operate.

I am trying to decide whether to bother getting it fixed or just upgrade to the RCD 1072. Thoughts?

    Welcome to the club!

I haven't heard much about the 940, but the 1072 seems to always get a lot of praise. If the laser mechanics are out, there's a chance they may not have them anymore.

I managed to snag an RCD-1072 to replace my old inoperable RCD-940BX...wooo!

I am now looking for suggestions from club members on continuing with my upgrading. I bought my original setup when I was 14 years old (about 1980). Here is my current setup:

Rotel RCD 1072 - Anyone tried it yet?
      by Aussie Geoff
      Hi,

Have any members of Club Rotel tried the RCD 1072. If it's better than the 1070 it will be very good. On the otherhand the one review I could find (Hi Fi Choice - http://www.hifichoice.co.uk/review_read.asp?ID=2751) was not so good with 3 stars compared to the 5 stars they gave the

I tried to find a recent 'vs.' match between the two of these, but I have been a little unsuccessful.

Currently, I have B&W N804s using Monster MCX-1 (i think) cables to a Rotel RMB-1075 and an Onkyo Integra DTR 6.3 (using the receiver as the processor, which will be upgraded to the...
