The December issue has a review on the RB-1091. I'm sure some of you have read it by now. I'm curious to hear what those of you who have read it and heard the amp think of the review.

My apologies - make that the December edition of the absolute sound .
Rather than keep you in suspense bigburner and at the risk of my not accurately conveying the reviewers opinions, I will offer up a few words describing the rb-1091 review for you to chew on until you can get your hands on a copy of the review. The reviewer used Magnepan 1.6's and Parasound JC-1's as a reference.
In a nutshell the rb-1091 in his opinion:
-possesed speed and clarity with a fast, tight and transparent sound.
-bass was tight and controlled though not quite as good as some reference monoblocks.
-good resolution on SACD material allowing identification of individual instruments within a brass section, rendition of brass was good.
-overall smooth and neutral with a transparent silvery sound
-sounded faster but lacked some heft compared to the JC-1's.
-entry into 'high end' at very reasonable price.
Unfortunately, other than saying that the soundstage was more precise but not quite as large as the JC-1's, he did not make much reference to soundstaging, depth etc....that makes me wonder.
Time for a listen to these new amps, I don't put too much stock into reviews.- Bottom

Pretty much. If you can hear the difference, you probably want to buy something other than Rotel anyway, or are just kidding yourself.Originally posted by voxyDoes the sound of 1091 and 1092 sound the same?Analog: VPI Scoutmaster w/ Steel Delrin clamp + Dynavector 20XH cart

Anyone see the latest "Stereophile Guide To Home Theater"? The October 2003 issue has a review of the fully upgraded Integra Research RDC-7, a follow-up review by the same critic who raved about it in the February 2001 issue. (That review persuaded me to track one down for an audition.)...11 September 2003, 17:42 Thursday - Loading...
