    RSX-1056 keeps going on standby

    Hi,

I am having a problem with my RSX-1056, and was wondering if anyone ever had a similar problem. I searched in other threads, but couldn't find anything like my situation.
When I turned on the RSX-1056 from standby today, it turned on for about 1 second, and then went back to standby mode. I tried it a few times after that, and still the same thing. I tried turning it off from the switch on the back, or completely unplugging it for a few minutes, but it still does the same thing when I try turning it on.
Nothing has changed from the last time it was working, and there are no shorts in any of the speaker cables. The dealer doesn't seem to know what it can be, so I am hoping that someone might have an idea, since sending it out for repair would really be a pain (not to mention being without it for some time  ) .

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

    Paul

Maybe one of your speakers itself has a short?

Have you tried powering it up with no speakers connected at all?

Yup, I unplugged all the speakers from the receiver, except for the fronts which are on separate amplifiers, but it kept doing the same thing.
It's as if it enters a sort of protection mode and sets itself to standby, but I have no idea why. Everything seems in order, and there is nothing abnormal about the OSD (no error message or anything of the sort) for that one second that it's on.

Perhaps it's temperature related. Is your receiver in a well ventilated area?

If you feel adventurous, you can open the case and check for blown fuses.

        Peace and blessings,

        Azeke

The receiver has about 3 inches of air on top of it, which would seem like enough.
As for a fuse, I don't think it's a fuse probelm, since it does come on for a second. Would openning the case void my warranty with Rotel?

          Thanks.

            Paul,

I don't believe so, but before you open it, I would contact Rotel tech support (1-978-664-3820), and explain the problem, perhaps the can resolve the issue over the phone.

            Peace and blessings,

            Azeke

              Hi Azeke,

Thank you for their phone number and for your help. I will call them tomorrow and see what they say.
              Hopefully it's nothing major.

                RSX-1055 (F/W 2.30) keeps switching to standby
                by steven_braith
Three weeks ago I upgraded (!?!) my firmware from 2.26 to 2.30 and since that day my RSX 1055 keeps on switching itself into standby.

I have noticed that it tends to happen within the first 30 minutes of switching the unit on - so I'm thinking maybe something to do with it not having...

RSP 1098 will not go off standby? Frantic!
                by rangeles
                Hello All,

I am troubled that after I came home, and come to turn on my 1098 it will not turn on. The blue light is on, but I can not get it to turn on- using both remote 1050 and the front panel button. I tried turning off the main switch on the back and back on again. I noticed a...

RSX 1055 locked out on standby power
                by johnvb
I've owned this receiver for about 1 1/2 years now, from day one the remote control/ ir strength has been really weak. I originally set the powering up of the unit with the "direct" mode, because of the POS remote response.

I recently upgraded to a MX-500 universal remote. After...

                RA-1062 keeps blowing fuses
                by cxc21
My Rotel RA-1062 stopped working in standby, nothing playing, just was dead in the morning.

It keeps blowing the fuses F603 and F604 when I switch it on. Those next to the toroidal transfomer. They blow immediately no speaker or input attached.

Any chance to get the service...

RSP-1069 Standby only, No FL display, no output

This unit has been in service for quite a few years, but recently I've been turning it off via the rocker switch on the rear panel. Just yesterday, only the blue stanby light on the front lights up. The soft on/off switch will no longer turn on the display, nor do anything else. Nor does it respond...
