    dynamic range control with 1068

I noticed on the rotel site for the description of the 1068 it says it has dynamic range control... "Advanced microprocessors from Crystal Semiconductor handle Dolby Digital (complete with dynamic range adjustments)"

Am i blind? Why cant i find the settings in the OSD that let me set the dynamic range or Dolby D?

It's the DYN button on the remote. Min, max, none are the settings I believe.

Apparently it is a temporary setting only, via the remote. I searched the entire manual and found no reference to a 'permanent' (OSD) setting. This may be a good thing, however, since you would most likely not want to invoke dynamic range compression on a permanent basis anyway. At least I would not...I'd probably forget to turn it back off again.

I use a universal remote, too, but mainly for the family's use. I always keep the Rotel remote handy for more advanced features. For example, adjusting the center speaker level 'on-the-fly' while watching a program. To me, it would require too many new functions on the universal that aren't used that often.

If it's any help to you, I've found that whatever setting I select stays selected when I turn my pre/pro on/off. Granted, it's in standby mode too (little blue light by the power button is always on). I've not tried unplugging it.

On my Rotel 1560, there are 4 settings for Dynamic Range Control (for Dolby Digital, True HD, etc). Min, Mid, Max, and Auto.

            What does "auto" do??

Max means no dynamic range compression, correct?

I get how dynamic range control works, but aut...

            Dynamic range ... Stuck?
            by Hyenna
I'm fresh out of ideas to solve my problem...
I bough a new 1066 and it sounds like the "Dynamic Range" option is always engaged.

Here is why I think so :
            1) Dolby soundtracks lack dynamics, DTS ones do not
            2) My old Yamaha receiver doesn't lack any dynamics...

            Stop dynamic range compression
            by Brandon B
As most here are probably aware, there is a developing tendency in the music production industry to make the average level of a recording on a CD louder, especially on pop titles.

Essentially, this means they are decreasing the dynamic range of the medium, and, in fact, even clipping...

            1068 OSD problem--HELP!
            by ATellis
Just trying to set up the new HT system. Very simple for starters: the only input source is the DVD (I haven't even replaced my old CRT and cheapo DVD yet, but I do have the 1068, 2 Aragon amps (x2 and x3) and PSB Image speakers (5.1)). However, have run into startup problem/s with the 1068:
