Will we need to be able to read German to understand them?

That brings up an interesting question, is Kraut a term that is still used today? Calling a German a Kraut isn't akin to calling him a bad name, is it?

What exactly is the definition of a Kraut. (Don't tell me a smart white guy that drives a Porsche. )

Being born and raised in Germany (27 years) I can tell you, that "Kraut" is a vegetable, that has, at least in the rural traditional German cuisine, a high position. Now I do not know the translation to english, but you can easily look it up in a dict.

There is "Weißkraut", "Rotkraut", "Sauerkraut" and others. Howeverm the Hungarian love it too ;-)

The term, however, was never used by the Germans but by the enlish and american. It's not really a nice word for a German to hear.

        Great German DIY Mags
        by 64NOMIS
As a DIY enthusiast I have the unfortunate pre-condition of not being German.

A few years ago I was in Germany for the first time and discovered those great German DIY mags like Hobbyhifi and I think there are a couple others.

There are also great PC enthusiast magazines...

Das Boot Superbit - German DTS
        by David Meek
Just thought I'd warn you. The Superbit DVD of Das Boot has only the German soundtrack in DTS. The English version is DD 5.1. Personally, on this movie I don't care. I've seen the English version enough that I watch it in German with subtitles now. Can't wait to here this in DTS - wow!

        by Mazeroth
I will be in Germany in a few weeks on business and have really been wanting to snag a pair of Accutons for my new dipoles, only they're a little out of my budget. I was wondering if they would be more expensive if purchased over there rather than here? I know I've read numerous times how European...
