That depends on which clicking you're refering to? The 1098 uses high quality mechanical relays to switch inputs etc where many cheaper models use electronic switches that are silent. The downside is you'll hear a click noise as it switches from one source to another etc.

        xtc,

If the RSP-1098 clicking during TV is "very loud" is it through the speakers or just internal. Through the speakers can be a number of issues - mains interference and heat being the most common two I am aware of (e.g. having the RSP-1098 above a powerful amplifier and it gets too hot. or noise on the mains or in the digital cable). If it is internal clicking then this is relocking on the digital signal with the relays - normally only happens with a change of format (e.g. from a movie to an advertisement.)

I'm the new owner 1098 (replaced by 1066).
I'm recognizing this baby now. Beautiful sound.
But I've one (first) problem. How can I pernamently display source and volume on the TFT ? Is this possible ?

          Thanks. Radim.

            Hi Radim,
Either press the menu button on the remote or on the front panel and this will cause the status display screen on the TFT to remain on. Holding down the menu button for 3 seconds will turn off the TFT all together.

            cheers,
            Stephen

              Yes, you're right.
But I would like to display only source and sound level. Not all the status screen.

              Radim.

                Radim,

As far as I know what you ask for is not currently supported by the RSP-1098. In fact the wish list focus has been more about permanently turning the TFT display off, rather than having it on all the time with the input and the volume.

However - that aside I can see your point - many Receivers permanently display the source and volume on their dot matrix display so I'm happy to add it to the wish list for the future as a user selectable option.

My 1098 was working fine when I first bought it. Then a couple of weeks later I bought a RMP-1095 5 channel amp and hooked it up. It worked fine with brief periods of use and then something interesting happened.

When I used it for an extended period of time, my 1098 started making relay...

                    Problems with 1098 and 1075
                    by sridhar mahadevan
I just purchased a 1098 processor along with the 1075 amp,
on the basis of quite a few stellar reviews.

So far, I must say I am disappointed by the performance of
these units. Perhaps I have a defective 1098, but let me describe the
                    problems I'm having, and perhaps...

                    Dear All,

I have just joined this forum today and this is actually my first message. I am a truly fortunate person having bought the following Rotel setup just two weeks ago

Shootout : Parasound C2 vs Rotel 1098 (long)
                    by DrBoom
Well, it's been almost 2 months now that I've lived with both my Rotel RSP1098 and my Parasound C2 and the time for deciding which I'm going to keep is almost at hand.(not that I HAVE to decide now for some reason, but I'd hate to end up with 2 processors permanently)
I actually own both of them,...

Is this normal, RSP-1098 "Clicking"? and Break in period.
                    by eulogytool
I broke down and and bought the 1098 after months of debating and I am very happy.

First question is: What is the normal break in period for a Pre/Amp to reach it's full dynamic potential?

Second question: I have my gear loaded onto one circuit and when my refrigerator...
