    SOLUTION to my RB1080 hum!!!

Thanks again to the club members that helped me determine the source of the hum through my speakers! ( As posted previously, hum appeared with the addition of a new RB1080 added to sysytem). The source in my case was the tv cable! I never mentioned how I permanently solved the problem!! So here is the solution that worked for me. I ran my tv cable through a line conditioner! All I here now is MUSIC. The line conditioner has hi current outlets specifically designed for hi current amps and subwoofers. So not only is there no more hum, but there is no negative effect on the sound as caused by some conditioners. Turn off the music and dead silence!!
I thought it a good idea to share this info. As I searched the various local audio dealers and electronic stores to eliminate the mentioned hum, I was given all kinds of potential solutions. Many of these solutions were contradictory, and many of those offering solutions disagreed with each other!. This can be very frustrating and confusing in addition to the fact that noise(hum) can be an illusive thing. So, maybe this bit of info will offer some additional direction to those of you experiencing annoying hum.

Another satified customer, congratulations. Perhaps you may want to let members know which line conditioner you purchased.

    Thanks for the info,

Great to hear you solved the problem. Instead of running you cable signal through the surge protector and back try just running a piece of TV coax cable from FM tunner connection on your receiver to the surge protector and see what happens. I had to do this for my 1095 to solve a hum.

What brand of line conditioner you're using for the cable? I've tried different ways to get rid of the hum caused by the cable TV signal but it didn't work.

            Huma,

I use a Panamax 5300. I was told by the dealer that I purchased it from, that it would not get rid of the hum. However it eliminated the hum entirely. No noise! It's a beautiful thing!! Hope you succeed in getting rid of your hum.

            Good luck!

                Hey guys!

After many years of use, my Panamax 500 DBS died out on me. I was hoping you gents could recommend a good line conditioner/surge protector for my home theater system that is around $500 or less (I'll spend a little more if I must ).

                I know that this budget...

Finally got my 1068 last night and hooked it up, unfortunately there was a pronounced hum coming from all the speakers.

Here is where it gets strange. The outlet I was using was the same outlet I was using with previous equipment and there was no hum then. In fact, the outlet itself...
