    RQ-970BX

I just purchased the RQ-970BX to hook up an older Oracle turnable to the RSP-1066. I am having so problems with a very audible hum. I have tried the following:
    - checking all connections
    - moving the amps
    - moving the power supply
    - disconnecting the turntable from the RQ-970BX - hum gone
    - disconnecting turntable power supply - better but hum very audible

It would appear to be a turntable issue but does anyone have any suggestions?

    Thanks

Assuming your turntable is properly grounded... try very gently moving the wiring to the cartridge... it's not unheard of for them to shift position slightly over time, which compromises the connection, which can be a cause of hum... it's happened to me a couple times on 'tables i'd owned for several years... carefully shifting them back into position always remedied that.

That did the trick. I removed the connectors, cleaned and re-applied. Presto.

      Thanks again.

        Turntable recommendation
        by SteveT
As a possible upgrade consideration, I was thinking of also upgrading my turntable. I'd like to get one that will perform to my needs. My thing is that I like to play my music at loud levels with decent base response, and my turntable now receives feedback and starts to hum. This even happens if...

Hello everyone. I have a Pro-Ject Debut Carbon w/2M Red cart. My left channel is nothing but hum. I tried moving the ground cable from the pre amp to the power conditioners main ground. Tried using the turntable without the ground cable. Tried re balancing the tone arm. Looked at all the connections...

        Hello all,

just joined the forum after desparately googling out a solution for my problem: brand new Rotel ra-1062 (integrted amp) has developed audible hum near the transformer area. It can be heard from about 10-15cm (4-6in), but it changes the pitch to a higher frequency and level...

Integra Dtr 7.1 - Phono Hum Problem
        by gudge111
I recently purchased a turntable and connected it to the phono jack on my integra dtr 7.1. I noticed a couple of things:

1 the signal didn't split to my subwoofer so I only receive signal to the 2 front satellite speakers. Is this normal? I have configured the system to include the...

Hello all! I just got an A52 off audiogon. Anyways, not matter what I can't seem to get rid of the hum/buzz feedback. I have tried almost everything that has been recommended here.

        1. Disconnect EVERYTHING.... amp plugged into wall, everything (that i know) off on the circuit, just speakers...
