    Pop goes the demo RSX-1067

    Greetings,

New to forum but not Rotel.
In the last 12 months I've bought the following HT receivers:

    RSX-1055 (all software upgrades)
    NAD T763 (demo)
    and as of last Friday
    RSX-1067 (demo)

The RSX-1067 (finally) exceeds my expectations for clarity and flexibility
(given the inherant restrictions of HT receivers).

That said, my unit is plagued with
the "popping" problems outlined in previous posts.

Spent 2 days troubleshooting and tracing -- here's what I know:

Unit pops at all volumes, all digital settings, all input sources (even tuner), in every (active) channel, on any connection type and regardless of what household circuit it's plugged into -- or what it shares a circuit with.

The speed, volume and pattern of the "popping" is completely random.

A-ha moment: Switching to Analog Bypass mode eliminates ALL popping.
(You can actaully toggle between 2ch-stereo (popping) and bypass (none) with the remote.)

So is the 1067s digital circuitry is responsible for all this popping? It would appear to be.

FYI: I remember the RSX-1055s popping tendecies when choosing or switching digital sources -- this is 20 times worse.

Just wanted to get your collective input and wisdom before I contact dealer.

    Thanks,
    --ksr

First run 1067's had an issue with the digital boards that would cause exactly what you describe. You need to send it to Rotel to get fixed.

Getting ready to call my Authorized Dealer...

My invoice clearly reads DEMO SALE but the invoice (and their website) doesn't have much to say about DEMO service or support.

They have very little to say about USED service and support:
      There is none.

Any ground rules for Rotel Authorized Dealer Demo sales, service or support that I should know about?

          Mo money...problem solved.

Dealer claimed to have no knowledge of 1st Gen popping problem.

First they offered to ship the unit to Rotel for service.
An hour later they called and offered a new unit for $250 more than I paid for the demo. (price = retail less 10%)

They're going to send my demo to Rotel, have it repaired and resell it as a demo.

I've got no problems with the resolution, but I won't be buying another demo anything from these guys.

          Oh, almost forgot...

My "sales associate" finally returned my call about the problem -- this morning. Better 5 working days late than never.

What's the deal with my dealer?

So I call my dealer last Fri morning.

The new RSX-1067 was supposed to be here two days earlier (Wed).

At 6:05 on Friday (store closed) I finally get this email:

Hey Kris, the 1067 in black is on backorder and will be here at the end of next week and Rotel hasn't gotten back about the availabilty on those amp accessories. I'll call you an Monday to follow up.

            Thanks, XXXXXX
            .

            Does this sound "typical"?
Or is the way dealers treat you when you don't spend more than $10k.

Kris, we are fortunate enough up here in the Twin Cities metro area to have 2 dealers, the 1st was so arrogant, I darn near told them to kiss my *ss, in front of some of the snobby customers in the store. The 2nd one treated me very well from the get go, offered me 10% on my first purchase with em on an RB-1070, w/o even having to ask. It paid divedends as I have spent much with them since. There were posts sometime ago about dealers being independant, some are gems, some are not. "Typical" may not be the best term, allthough there are some real turds out there. In this day and age "customer service" is getting harder to come by, but do have faith that Rotel itself is stellar in its comitment to its customers. Good luck, it will be worth your'e wait,
              Bob
