This is no April Fools Joke folks. During the next couple of days, we will be picking a day to migrate HTGuide to a new server. We will have the same reliable service we have always had, as we are not changing Hosting Services, only moving to a new updated state of the art server! Support is working to coordinate things right now.
We will announce the date of migration from old server to the new server in due time. We hope to minimize downtime while the DNS propagates to our new IP address, and service is restored. But some downtime is inevitable.
The RT-1080 is a great tuner... lots of presets, etc. The one complaint that a number of people have with it is that the display cannot be dimmed and it is pretty bright. It is not a problem for me because all my equipment is in a rack in the back of the theater, but if you have your equipment up by your TV screen, you may find the brightness objectionable in a dimmed or dark room.
I bought the 1080 a few days after i bought the 1098, I realized how much i listen to the radio.I like the 1080 its a great piece.I did put up a outdoor antenna,it brought in many more stations and no drifting.it also has rds which displays the name of the song (cool). plus it looks nice with the 1098 sitting underneath
I was just reading the RT-1080 manual on line and it seems that you can dim or turn off the display of the unit from the remote.
DIMMER Button
Available only on the remote control, this button selects three display brightness settings: NORMAL, DIM, or OFF. When the display is OFF, pressing any button or control will return it to the NORMAL mode. Press the button to cycle through the three settings.
NOTE: When the tuner is turned off and back on, the display reverts to its normal setting.
Is this a typo in the manual and the unit can not do this?
I was wondering if any of you had the chance to compare a Rotel separate tuner, the RT-1080 to the tuner in the Rx-1050 receiver. Would it be worth it to purchase the separate tuner or is the tuner in the 1050 already good enough?
I am , and have been considering a tuner ever since buying my 1066/1095. I am considering the RT-1080. Any comments or suggestions. Do you folks even care about tuners, and does anyone have the RT-1080? And if so would you care to give me your thoughts.
I've been looking at buying a Rotel tuner RT-1080 but at $750 CDN it seems that there might be better options out there!
My only beef is that i'd like the system to match.
...But what makes a tuner worth so much and is it worth it? I can buy other brands for a third the cost so...
I just traded in an early version of the current RT-1080 tuner (was black version) for a newer silver version of the 1080 tuner (had to make it match the silver RSP-1098 - for the all important WAF).
As per the RT-1080 owner's manual addendum, the newer 1080's display now functions slightly...
Just curious if anyone else has experienced the same glitch as I have with the RT-1080 tuner + 1068 remote (RR-1050). I don't suspect there is any fix for it, but doesn't hurt to ask.
I blank out the display of the RT-1080 tuner by holding down the "display" button on the tuner...
