    RSX965 - distorted sound/problem

i own a rsx965 receiver which has been back and forward to my
hifi shop with the following complaint.
initially the receiver worked well, but after approx 6 to 8 months, i
ascertained a slighly distored sound while listening to DVD/Digital
recording. the receiver went to the store and they could not find anything.
the advised me to purchase 1 75ohm digital cable to connect my dvd
    with the receiver.
the last time i returned the receiver it went to the technical dept. and
apparantly the re-soldered some connections and when the re-connected
    the prevailing problems were solved.
now 6 months later i again have problems with the sound reproduction
has anybody had similar problems and what stepts have
been undertaken to solve same? i appreciate to 5 year warrenty but
honestly speaking i have not much faith in this product anymore.

    Polypenko,

A cetrain production run of the Rotel RSX965 has a history of problems associated with the symptoms that you describe. I owned one and thankfully do not any longer. I advise you to contact Rotel support who I believe will be very cooperative in rectifying your issues if they can identify them. Rotel have an excellent support team in North America who took care of me.

You should note that the documented DTS flag issue (if this is what you are describing) was not a problem with Rotel, but namely the DTS algorithin was altered after Rotel had produced an early run of the 965.
Once again, I'm confident that Rotel will assist you if deemed the fault of the product.

    Best of luck

I want to replace my Denon 5600 receiver with a Rotel 1067. I have NHT 2.9's for my mains AC2 for the center and 1.5's for surrounds. I use 2 Parasound 2200 amps in my system now. One drives my L/R speaker and the other ones drives my center and 16-46 SVS. The other two channels I run off of the 5600....

I am buying a Rotel AVR RSX 1055 on 'cash and carry' basis, i.e. I have to install and get it running by myself. The dealer is 200km away from my home. I am also buying Paradigm Studio 60s, Studio CC and Studio 20s speakers from him for a 5.1 system along with Tempest subwoofer from another source....

I am in the process of upgrading my receiver I use in my bedroom 2ch system. Right now I have an Onkyo TX-SR702 AV receiver, Sony DVP-NC555ES CD/DVD player, Def Tech ProSub100 sub and a pair of B&W 602S3 speakers.

The question is that if I replace the Onkyo receiver with a Rotel RSX...

Receiver vs true pre amp comparison

I know this could likely have gone in the Club Rotel but I wanted to show people that receivers can make decent pre amps in some cases....

As luck would have it I am presently lucky enough to own both the Rotel 1055 receiver and the Rotel 1066 pre amp. For those that don't know about...
