The biggest difference is the torroid transformer and the extra power of the 1065.

    1055 - 75w x 5 and 100w x 2 (or very close to it)

    1065 - 100w x 5 and 120w x 2

Preamp sections are very similar. If you are in a small room w/ efficient speakers, the 1055 is great. In a bigger room and/or inefficient speakers the 1065 would be a better bet. Unless you need the extra muscle, they will sound very similar.

Since I assume these will be used, I would think price will be a factor here. Don't forget when they were new, you could buy the 1055 and an outboard amp like the 1075 and arguably better the 1065. It all depends what your needs are. If you want a one box solution and not have to worry about power in the future, the 1065 is the way to go. Both are great units and if you don't need the latest bells and whistles, you will not be disappointed with either.

I has a 1055 for the past 3 years and I like ti a lot...

I now have it in the basement of the new house and good volume is around 55 (was 40 in the condo, living room was smaller...)...I do not plan on getting a outboard amp soon since it's quite enough for the momment...

only if I can put my gand on a used RB-985Bx for a good price... :B

If you find right speakers ,
even RSX1056 or Yamaha 2500 is still great

            LFE over x-over freq discarded for 1066, 1065, & 1055?
            by BleakShore
I'm told that the BM in the 1066, 1065, & 1055 discards the LFE above the crossover frequency. That is, if you set your speakers small, and chose to set the sub crossover freq at, say, 60 Hz, anything above 60 Hz in the LFE channel is simply discarded.

            Now, this doen't sound like...

            choosing rsx1065 over rsx1055
            by Erik
Hello all, this is my first post here.
Lots of topics to read, but i read it to juni so far :-)

I have still one question. My situation:
            room - 4x6 meters
            speakers - now 2 x matrix 805 (hopefully, one day 5 x matrix 805)

            I listen 50% to Music:

Stick to RSX1065 or go to 1055/1075 separates?
            by BleakShore
I guess I'd like to hear/learn advices/experiences from those who have gone this route.

That is, stick with the RSX1066, or exchange it for the RSX1055/RMB1075 combo? I bought it from Myer-Emco so I can do the exchange with no penalty.

            The reason I'm contemplating this...

            Rotel Chipset's in 1065 /1055
            by Hanrahan731
What are make, model, and spec's of the D/A and A/D converters and the DSP chipset used in Rotel 1065 and 1055 receiver's. I had read that the DAC's are from AKM and are 96kHz/24-bit. Is this correct?

RSX1055 for 2 ch and compared to 1065 and later models
            by Glen1
            Hi Guys,
I have posted in the past about Rotel but ended up with a Primare ht amp which I did like but was frustrating to use and frustratingly unreliable so it's been sold and I'm back to Rotel again.
My plan is to have a 2 ch and surround using the same speakers but with a ht amp...
