    Amp for back surround.

I have the Rotel 1068/1075 combo. I am looking for another amp to drive the 2 back channels. Is the 1080 overkill for back channels. I appreciate your input/suggestion.

Move the 1080 to the front L&R. Use the 1075 for the rest of the channels. That's a no brainer.

I don't have your setup but personally, I would buy the 1080 and assign the front channels to the channels being amp'ed by the 1080 and have all the surrounds amp'ed by the 1075.

Would give you better 2 channel playback in case you ever play CD's

        I agree...

Or get the 1070 for the back surrounds....

Thank you for your suggestion. WIll this set up cause timbre mismatch since the center speaker is now driven by the 1075 and the L&R driven by the 1080.
          I am using B&W 705 and HTM7

No, quite a few of us, myself included, use that combination quite successfully with no mismatch. It's a very popular way to go if you spend time listening to 2 channel by itself. If that rarely if ever happens then got the 1075/1070 route.

How about selling the 1075 and get the new digital 7 channel amp - one box for all channels.

This is a good idea. But I want to wait a bit for more review of the 1077.

Probably cheaper and easier to just get a 1080 or 1070
