RCD-1072 or Quad CD-S - educated advice needed

    Dear all,

I'm trying to pick a new cd player for my ra-1062.
Trialed few - including 1072 that's still in my room. Without lots of elaboration, it's a beautifull sounding little gem : that's about to be purchased. BUT, a good friend is telling me to give a go to Quad CD-S, too.
This one I haven't heard yet, so would ask for some insight if you've tried 'em both.

Also, what is the DAC max. resolution and sampling frequency of 1072? No data in the users manual or on the Rotel site.

EDIT: I've just re-read TFM ops: and it does say it's 18 bit equivalent (whatever that is?). Sampling frequency? Anyone?

    Thanks and cheers,
    SGT

A lot of people place the 1072 over some of the best, maybe someone out there has compared it to the Quad. Of course the typical try it for yourself and let us know still applies..

One thing to consider: the RCD-1072 and the RA-1062 when they were developed were voiced to compliment each other. They have great synergy. One of the British Hi-Fi magazines went into this - I think the review is on the Rotel site, you've probably seen it. And they do look great together for whatever that is worth.

Found some info on the new cd player.

Its from a german site called http://www.gute-anlage.de (translates into www.good-system.de), which is a site from the german distributor I think. They have the RCD1072 listed at 899 euro with the following text:

When do you think we can see a replacement for the RCD-1072?
        by audiojunky
I was curious to know how old is the Rotel RCD-1072 and when we might expect to get a replacement for this player?

Given the fact that the RCD-06 is only available in Europe and it has Burr--Brown 24-Bit 96 kHz sampling compared to RCD-1072's 18-bit sampling, shouldn't we be expecting...

        RCD-1072 vs RACD-02
        by hired goon
        G'day,

I was in a hi-fi store the other day, and mentioned that I had the Rotel RCD-1072 CD player. The sales dude then mentioned that I "did not have Rotel's top of the range cd player", and proudly pointed to a RCD-02 CD player in the corner.

        I scoffed at this,...

        RDV1060 vs RCD 1072
        by Kemp
        Hi all,

Could anyone tell me the difference, if any, when playing a CD on the RDV1060 compared to the RCD1072. I was enquiring about the RCD1072 and the salesman advised me to rather go with the RDV 1060.

        Any comments will be appreciated.
