Connecting Low end spkrs with high end stuff

Here is a question I bet you are not used to:

I'm buying a RSP-1098 and RMB-1075, the problem is though: I dont have my speakers here in Canada yet. I'm currently sharing an appartment with another dude and he might buy some VERY low-end speakers such as ~$300 5.1 package.
Now, am I at risk at damaging my Rotel gear or his speakers if I hook em up together? He also has a turntables on which he likes to play DJ on. Same question there; am I at risk on damageing my Rotel gear by hooking up turntables (that will be used for scratching)?

VERY weird questions I know, but I would like to get your input on them.

No you won't cause harm to the Rotels with cheap speaker. Even if the speakers short out the Rotel's protection will kick in and shut the amp down. Now for $300 Cdn I'd strongly suggest looking at www.fluance.com as they have a couple of 5 speaker sets that will sound MUCH better what you'll find at BestBuy or FutureShop for similar money and they are made here in Canada so shipping/duty isn't an issue. Use these and don't worry about a subwoofer as the towers will give you all the base you need in an apartment

Thanks! For that info... another question the guy Im sharing the appartment with, is an Aussie, I know that they are lazy but could they be a menace to Rotel gear? Any protection recommended for Aussies? straight jacket perhaps?

                    Comparing Spkrs

                    As an Analogy with Cars:
A BMW M3 can be compared to porsche Boster S or 911 in terms of performance but 911 being more expensive may have a slightly better build quality /materials/Prestige

Can the same be used when comparing Spkrs?

                    Turntables?

Hi guys, let me tell you that I just upgraded my speaker cables from Original Monster spk cbls to some quality 10 g. and bi-wire too, and my system is much, much improved.. I can definitely tell the difference.

Now, I never had a turntable, or vinyl records, but I've heard many people...

                    by wrekkah
Just wondering if anyone out there has hooked up a turntable to their Rotel preamp or receiver. What are you using for a phono stage? What is your opinion of your vinyl sound.

Any recommendations on turntables. Hoping to stay under $1k for the turntable (cartridge & tonearm), phono...

I have just been at the Home Entertainment show in New York and wanted to get some opinions on how significant the differences are between the ultra high end turntables like a Continuum Audio Labs turntable (which sounded incredible) but which was $50,000 plus without tone arm or cartridge and a turntable...
