Analog out or optical to the 1055?

Hi Guys,

I have a Sony 300 disc changer and wanted to know if should use the L and R analog to the reciever or use the optical out for sound quality? I notice on the Analog that there is really low hissing that isnt there with the optical out. Will better quality RCA analog cables be better than the stock ones that come with the cd player, you know the skinny wires with the red and white connectors.

Unless that's an ES player forget using its internal DACs via the analogue cables as the DACs are very low quality and your Rotel will easily sound better.

And in any cases, NEVER use the cables that comes with it...their shielding is quite weak and the connectors are of poor quality...

Use at least some good quality cable...20$ and up I guess...

Its 24 bit 96 KHz Cirrus DAC I believe and it sounds pretty decent.

andrew: i thought it would be a 24bit 96khz. this is the standard DAC for most dvd players that have been out. i think this is also the standard for alot if not most of the CD players as well...even the mega cd changers.

While they might be using the same spec'd DAC they're not all created equal and you'll easily hear differences between them.
