I just got the RSP-1098, and I am currently evaluating it. I've noticed that DTS 96/24 decoding seems to be a problem. The audio drops out about every second. I'm using high end Marantz DVD player (DV-12S1) with a good digital coax interconnect. Is anybody else experiencing this problem with the 1098?

I justed tested the Queen DVD-Audio A Night at the Opera which has DTS 96/24 and experience no problems at all on my 1098. THe signal is recognized correctly and sounds great. I have the 1.1.4 firmware and not the newer firmware. I only use a 5.1 setup (even 5.0 since I use no subwoofer). -
Thanks Scarp. I'll have to try another disc perhaps. I was trying the Frank Zappa "Holloween". I really doubt it would be the DVD player, but there could be some incompatibility of Marantz and Rotel's 1098. Which player are you using?Comment

Problem reslved! I reset the DVD player's settings to factory original, and DTS96/24 now works fine and it sounds great. Scarp, thanks for confirming that this was not an issue with the 1098.Comment

I'm having a video problem with the RSP1098. I'm trying to figure out whether there is something wrong with the 1098, some incompatibility with my plasma monitor, or some bad mojo in my house. All ideas or experience with similar set-ups would be greatly appreciated.

Well, it's been almost 2 months now that I've lived with both my Rotel RSP1098 and my Parasound C2 and the time for deciding which I'm going to keep is almost at hand.(not that I HAVE to decide now for some reason, but I'd hate to end up with 2 processors permanently)

Well I have both the RSP1098 and C1 side by side and I have had the C1 a full week and have played CD, DVD, Satellite TV's and am ready to give a general comparison of strengths and weaknesses.
COMPARING the CD source in Stereo the sound on the Halo was was much richer than the Rotel.... -

is it possible to have the 1098 to play any cd sacd dvd-a or dvd-v
without swithing each time from video1 to EXT for mutichannel (manually),
to have it swithing... -
