Need help in what to get?

Hi everyone, I will soon be a new owner of a rotel system. I need help in deciding what to purchase. It's only for HT, no music. Here is what Im thinking of getting and what my setup is. At the end will be my questions for what should I do.

Getting RSP-1098, RMB 1095, and for the 7.1 an additional RB 1090. Use the RB 1090 for the fronts (left, right) and the RMB 1095 for the rest.
My speakers are for the rears, (new) Speakercraft aim 5's 4/6/8 Ohms. Retail $1500. The rest are (8 yrs old soon to update if needed) Onkyo THXF-1 (Fronts) 6 ohms, THXS-1 surround Dipolar's 6 ohms., and THXPS-1a Amp sub and THXPS-1P sub. Im not sure if most of you have heard of these Onkyo speakers as they was very limited at the time and the retail for just the Onkyo's was over $3000 at that time.

My questions are should I get another RMB 1095 to add rather than the RB 1090? or stay with the RB 1090 for the addition watts for the fronts?

Am I hooking up the speakers for the amps the right way to use?

Any other suggestions would be great! Thanks for all inputs. Fastfred

Unless you're going to be powering some very inefficient speakers, I'd get the RMB-1095 for the 5 channel, and the RB-1080 for the fronts. That'll save you some coin.

The 1090 is a very very nice amplifer and really kicks butt compared to the 1095 esp when music is concered....given that you're only doing HT though the 1080 might do you well enough esp. if it free's up some money to invest in different speakers (if you feel you need to).

        RB-1090 with 703

I just installed my first HT which I’m VERY happy with. The 2 channel listening sounds GREAT! Just wondering if I would benefit more (after the speakers have broken in) with a more powerful amp like a RB-1090 driving the fronts. Eventually, I’m going to do 7.1 --- this would fit right in line...

        RB-1070 or RMB-1095 for fronts

I have both and they are connected to my RSP-1068 in my 7.1 setup, any experience which one would serve the best as stereo L/R?

        1. the 1095 because 200W ch and then both L/R and Center have the same aplification?
        2. The 1070 since this one has a dedicated power supply for 2ch and...

        1090 + 1095 questions
        by Joseki
        Hello all,

Everytime I get ready to send checks and credit card numbers, some niggling issue comes up and gives me pause!

So far, I have purchased a fully upgraded Anthem AVM-20 and have settled on an amp solution from Rotel. At this point it looks like the 1090 for the...

        Speaker connections to RB 1090
        by Stage1
Newbie question. If I hook 2 pairs of speakers to the 1090 rated at 8 ohms does this switch the amp into 4 ohm mode meaning that the rated power output at 4 ohms would be distributed to all speakers evenly. Hopefully someone will understand what I'm trying to say. Also will this put to much of a load...

RB-1090 - Is it a good upgrade or should I have waited?
        by Jamil
        Folks,

Yesterday I upgraded my front channel power by getting the RB-1090. The upgrade was from RB-1080. After I made my purchase and brought it home, I called another dealer to check up on the availability of RMB-1095 to upgrade (from RMB-1075) my surrond/center setup as well. This...
