    a fast 2ch RSP1066 vs. RSP1068 question - thanks!

    hi,

I was looking about a pre-processor audiophile enough to drive a good-level 2ch final without forget the multi-channel chance. I had an offer for 1066, and the only thing I need to know is:

is there some different in pure 2ch mode between 1066 and 1068 when drive a dedicated 2ch audiophile final?

    thank you very much.

I beleive there are differences in how the bypass mode works and the 1066's do have a bass double issue on the multi channel inputs. The 1068 also brings with it much improved bass management, PLIIx and a host of other features that IMO make it worth the extra cost. See if you can find a used one if costs are an issue.

        hi, thank you
you don't know how much you help me

here's the situation and my configuration:

        CD-Player: Rotel RCD-02 (2004)
        Integrated Ampli: Rotel 980BX (1996)
        Front speaker: B&W CDM-1
        DVD Player: Philips DVD-722 (2001)

here what I want to do:

        - buy a pre-processor
        - separate shunt pre-to-power section of 980BX
        - connect pre-processor to power section of 980BX for CD-Player 2ch

        and in two year:

        - CDM-1 back for surround
        - buy better B&W speakers for front and 2ch stereo (let's say 1000,00 eur)
        - buy better power-ampli for 2ch front speakers (let's say 800,00 - 1000,00 eur)
        - use power of 980BX for surround

        now:

IS the 2ch pre section of 1066 at the same level of my existing configuration (pre of integrated 980BX)?

        ...and for my future target?

        prices here:

        1068: 1350,00 eur
        1066: 700,00 - 800,00 eur (few months old used)

should I consider the 1066 offers?
hope you can answer as I don't find an answer in my heart.

        THANK YOU VERY MUCH

        PS::
isn't in last version the bass issue solved?
is it enough just cut resistors? any negative conseguence?

Likely no. Most dedicated pre amps are superior to those found in todays home theatre processors...esp the entry level lines which the 1066 and 1068 fall into. Now that said you might not notice much of a difference and the benefits will be worth any slight sonic degradation. Looking at your plans you might actually consider getting a Rotel 1056 receiver instead. You could use that to power the centre and surrounds for now and use your 980 amp to power the fronts. The 1056 receiver should be slightly cheaper then the 1068 and will give you the jump start on your goal of true surround sound and sonically there's not much difference between the pre amp section in the 1056 and 1068. I don't recall if the European models had the same bass management issues but over here Rotel never did impliment the change. Cutting the resistors was a fairly easy fix and didn't impact anything else on the processor...though warranty may be a question if you did it yourself and broke something.

            thank you.

            finally I taken 1066 at 700,00 eur instad 1068 at leat 1400,00
as price jump was too big, and I'm just a newbie in HT...

...I'll post some impression as I'll have "my" cable for pre-power connection.

what I've not understood is the double bass issue.
I meant that frequencies that were destinated to subwoofer only are re-directed to front speakers too, via multi-input, is it right?

and how does it affect the multi-input "front" for direct analogue 2ch CD listening?

              RSP1066 Vs RSP1068
              by wywong
              Hi,
I have an option of buying an RSP1066 or an RSP1068, the different in price is about $400. Can someone give me an opinion on whether it is worth the extra of $400 to get the RSP1068. I am currently using a Denon 3803 as a pre/processor and the RMB1075. Will this upgrade to the Rotel RSP1066...

              Hi Folks,

Seems like a pretty big following here for Rotel.

If you've always wanted to control your equipment from your computer/graphic user interface, touchscreen or tablet pc, but thought it was cost prohibitive, think again.

Would the RSP1068 also make a good 2 channel preamp?
              by BKSinAZ
I am a 50% music and 50% movie person with my system and in need of a prepro. For 2 channel music, how is the RSP1068? Not really into buying two preamps.

How does the RSP1068 compare with the RSP1056 for 2 Channel music?

              hi Guys

how great the difference 2ch Rsx972 to Rsp1068 as pre-amp
              by bung99
Considering a 1068 instead of using my 972 as a per-amp. I have the RCD1072 (cd player) pluged in analog & the RMB 1095 as the power amp to my NS1000M Yamaha speakers for 2 ch with my sub set to cut in at the lowest setting on the sub. I do have a 5.1 setup but mostly play CDs & get into a...
