    Micke,

I think this is a matter of the amount of force applied to the wheel. Trying treating it gently like a lady, and see if that resolves you rasping sound issue.

    Hope this helps,

    Azeke

Hmmm interesting. Are you sure it is not associated with the switching of the modes? If it isn't perhaps you should send an e-mail to Tim of Rotel specifically describing the problem.

        Hope this helps,

        Azeke

The function wheel isn't a smooth wheel like the volume wheel, but it has discrete steps that you can feel while turning. As long is yours doesn't make an enormous amount of sound, it won't be bad at all. Maybe go back to the store and check some other units out.

I manage to fix the problem with toohtpixs,

The problem was that the jog wheel have a dark grey textil thing behind it
that was loose in some way.
You Guys can see it by using a flashlight and light the crack between: jog wheel and the frontpanel.

              Micke,

IMHO, I wouldn't pay that kind of money and then have to rig it with toothpicks. I would contact my dealer and request a fix (without the toothpicks) or a new 1098.

              Just my quick thoughts,

              Azeke
