    Calibrating Rotel 1068 with AVIA

Going from a Denon 3802 to a Rotel 1068. The master volumes are different. The Denon went from -85 to 0 and I would set the master volume to 0 and calibrate with AVIA to 85db. The Rotel goes from 0 to 85 or 90. I'm not sure where I need to start from. 85 seems to loud, should I start at 65 or where? Does the numbering system on the Rotel correspond to acual db's? Thanks anyone.

Doesn't really matter where you end up just pick a number that's close to 85 dB and adjust from there. On my system its calibrated so that 75 reads 85 dB but its just a number...and yes I'd much prefer Rotel used the negative dB scale instead of the positive integer system

      Andrew is right.

Just pop in avia, start the left channel playing, turn the 1068 up until you hit the 85db. Then leave the volume there while you calibrate the other channels. Make sure your left channel is set at 0db gain, that way you'll have a good starting point, plus you'll know that XX is reference. I think mine was 75-80ish on my 1098 when I calibrated it. I don't really know as I just turn it up as loud as I want it now (since it's all calibrated).

        Calibrating your speakers
        by ajpoe
I have kind of a unique question because I don't use a .1 sub. I have a powered sub on each of my front L & R and rear L & R so I have 4 full range channels for movies and 2 full range channels for music. I have my center set as small at 80 hz.

I had my system calibrated based...

        main->subwoofer crossover problem with 1068
        by stewfoo
OK, I am not sure what is going on with my system. But, it is weird.
I was just running the AVIA calibration DVD, calibrating the speaker levels when I noticed something really weird: The mains, Center and Surrounds do not seem to have a high pass crossover working, even when they are set to...

Avia Pro DVD (and Digital Video Essentials)
        by Chris D
For those who don't know, new editions of Avia and Digital Essentials are about to be released for new technologies since the original editions. Both videos are useful reference items to use in learning about, setting up, and fully calibrating your system in both audio and video. I own both original...

        Confused on Sub calibration
        by George Bellefontaine
It was always my understanding that all speakers should be calibrated to the same level. In my case I have 7 speakers and 2 subs and all were calibrated to 75db. But recently I read in a few posts at other HT sites that the sub(s) should be calibrated to 85db and the rest of the speakers at 75db. Seems...

        Calibration problem using AVIA
        by stjoenewt
This last week I was calibrating my RSX-1055 and noticed a problem. I was using the AVIA disc in a Panasonic DVD player. The DVD player is connected via both optical into one of the digital inputs, and analog into the multi-channel inputs. I did this due to the fact that the player can play DVD-A recordings...
