I REALLY want to get into multichannel audio (ie both DVD-A and SACD). Unfortunately, Rotel doesn't yet make a universal player. (Rotel, PLEASE make a universal player!) Sooooooo, at the moment I shall be content with the 1055/1075 set-up, and try to ward off any upgrade-itis.- Bottom

Thats a very good question Andrew...one that is not very easy to answer
I just got the 1075 yesterday and it is amazing for its rated 120 x 5. I tend to believe Rotel severely underrates their amps on paper, which is a good thing
Umm... I'd have to say I'd replace my Pioneer Elite receiver with the 1066 pre/pro. My receiver does a decent job, but being 4 years old, I'd imagine the 1066 would blow it away in sound quality for sure.
Next on my list would be the 1080 or 1090, to power the Def tech 7001S towers I am getting. Then the single disc cd player, and a Universal player from Rotel would indeed be on everyones list, as well as mine!
Sorry, I couldn't stick wish just one. I am in the process of getting rid of all my Elite gear, and going the Rotel route!

I'm at the end of Rotels capabilities. I've got the RSP1098, I've got the RB1090 and I've got the RCD991 (till now still the best rotel cd player).
So, my only choice is to go beyond Rotel which I will do by switching amps to Parasound.
I would have liked a dvd player from Rotel, but my current universal player is good enough for my needs.- Bottom

Oh thats easy.
I'd replace the wife. She goes loud enough but her tone is shrill and she hates the rest of my equipment.
Obviously I'm kidding. She likes the equipment.
I'd replace her with an RMB 1090

Wallacebw, Regarding you,re clicking noise from you,re dvd player, my Kinergetics KCD40 Platinum cd player had a clicking noise in it that was so bad that it made the disc skip. Thinking "basket case" I took it to a repair shop and to my surprize the transport was way out of adjustment. Payed the man and haven't heard a hiccup from it since.Dave...- Bottom

Is it? I would like to think my RCD990 is a little better.Originally posted by Scarp.... and I've got the RCD991 (till now still the best rotel cd player).
As for my equipment, my (analogue) stereo is Rotel and I like it the way it is. Combined with Marantz for HT I don't have any wishes in upgrading at this point.

Well, I have had a 1075 amp for a couple of years and love it. However, I am using a Yamaha 995 as a preamp, and it is about 3-4 years old. I have a SACD player.
I would definitely swap the 995 for a RSP-1066. The 1066 would be a good "fit" for the rest of the system (decidedly mid-fi), with the 1075 amp, 222ES SACD player, and GR Research DIY speakers.- Bottom

Okay I've decided to refine my selection based on the fact my old one was rather broad...
I'm already in the midst of replacing my Yamaha RX-Z1 with the 1066/1075
But if I already had them I suppose I'd want the 1098 and 1095 :P
Other than that I think I'd upgrade my Denon DVD-1600 with the RDV-1060. Especially if they updated it to include SACD.
A dedicated CD player would be nice too
Still too broad?

Hmmm, not sure I can answer this one. Everything I have is already rotel. 1098, 1090, 1095, and a 1080 dvd player. I don't see rotels new DVD as a worth while step up. So I guess I will say I am content, unless rotel comes out with a DVD player that will play DVD R discs. I will have to wait.- Bottom

1066 to 1098 just because I could (that is if I had the funds).

I would definitely say I would replace my Yamaha RXV-995 receiver (used as a pre-amp) with the RSP-1066 (I have been drooling over this processor for a few months).
George King: If you make the jump before I do, please let me know how it works out for you (looks like we both have the same receiver - and aspirations)

I would have to say that at this point any Rotel gear would be nice. Perhaps the 1055 to start with but I'll probably wait and get the 1066/1075 combo, unless of course there's something better by the time I have saved enough for purchase.

I am already working on the upgrade.
I sold my RDV-985 and my JA-20ES minidisc.
The RCD-975 and the 972 pre-amp is still on sale.
First (sorry no Rotel) I am getting a Denon dvd-2900. Actually I have one on loan now. Tomorrow I am putting a pile of cd's on the player and will compare CD quality between my trusted rcd-975 and the dvd-2900. If the 2900 is equal or even wins, I will buy one.
Next is to save some money, get rid of the horrid denon 3801. This will fund a rsp-1066, or if saving takes bit longer the next generation 1066.
This will then be a
rsp1066
rt-935 tuner
rd-965 tapedeck
Rb981 power amp for fronts
rb985 MKII for all other channels
Denon dvd-2900 cd/dvd/dvd-a/sacd
Philips AF777 record player (to be replaced by) Project 1.2 Comfort
Marantz AV8802, Marantz UD8002, Rotel RB-991 and RB985mkii, Rotel RD960
Focal/Jmlab Electra 1028S, Electra CC, Electra SW1000S, Cobalt 705

Griddall,
I have been eyeing the 1066 for awhile. Unfortunately, I am willing to bet that you upgrade first. I built new speakers, and there went the HT budget. Plus we have had some home upgrade bills, so money is tight. The Yamaha/Rotel combination is ok for HT, but is lacking for music, and these days I am listening to a lot of music with the SACD player.
Of course, if Rotel is reading this, and wants to donate a 1066, I will write a wonderful review - Bottom

I'd replace my aging Outlaw 1050 receiver with a Rotel RSP-1098. And add amps, maybe Rotel too, maybe not. I don't know yet.
But I need to upgrade my job first, which seems to be taking a lot longer than originally anticipated. And a house upgrade is ahead of HT upgrades on the priority list as well.

by booktrunkHi,
As per the title. I'm looking in the next few months to buy a DVD Player to replace my Denon 2800 MK II. I am hoping that Rotel will come out with a universal player. Maybe with HDMI etc...
Any ideas if one is coming out in the near future?

by Andrew PrattWhat are everyone's thoughts on these new universal DVD-A, DVD-V and SACD players? At the moment I have the Denon 1600 which is one of the best DVD players available and it also does DVD-A. I'm also using it as a CD player since I find its DAC's slightly better then those in my Rotel pre amp but I know...-

by TaitoHi All, there has been some information (and probably some misinformation) floating around about Rotel's plans to release a new DVD player later this year. I'd like to get a new DVD player at some stage this year.
SACD isn't important to me, so whether or not Rotel's new player is a universal...-
