    RSP 985 crackling noise

I just bought a Rotel RSP 985(i use it with RMB1075).It was a demo unit. When i turn the volume knob, or change source, you can hear a crackling noise in all the speakers. It sounds electrical as static electrisity (sorry about the spelling). When i play music, watch movies there isn't a problem. It's just when i turn the volume knob or change source from cd too dvd etc.

Before i got the 985 i used Yamaha RX-V1300RDS as processor with the 1075, and it was dead silent. No problems with that combination.

Is there anyone here who has a clue what the problem can be? That crackling is very annoying.

    Thanks

Well, I have hard the 985 on a show in Holland a long time ago.

It sure did not do anything like you describe. It is a very good processor.

I think it is defective. Especially since the Yammy had no problems.

Good to know that Rotel has a 5 year warranty.

      Rb-985?
      by june
      Hello All,

We are currently running Paradigm Studio 100's v2 & CC center with the Rotel RB-985 & RSP-1068. Will our sound improve if we upgrade to a more powerful Rotel amp? The 985 is 100 watts per channel. Will upgrading to the 130 watts amp improve the sound? Or jump up...

When I'm playing in analog mode, as in SACD 5.1, DVD-Audio 5.1, 2.0 & in ordinary Stereo mode there is no noise what so...

      RSP-985 Volume Control
      by Oyama
My RSP-985 tends to make a scratchy/static noise when raising or lowering the volume control. IIRC it has done this from day one.

Any other RSP-985 owners experience this? I was thinking of opening it up and spraying some Caig Calilub on the Volume pot or is this a bad idea? E-mailed...

      Got my new RSP-1098 - a question/problem
      by sramsay
      Hi All,

Well I finally did it and upgraded my RSP-980 and RDA-975 to the RSP-1098 using a Rotel RB-985 AMP.

First of all, the new processor is a beast. The 2 channel music is great and the surround sound processing is magic in comparison to my old gear.

      I...
