    1068 loosing memory

    Helllo there

    I have had a 1068 for about 5 months.

Once i zaped it with static; drug my feet on the carpet and touched the volume knob. It lost its memory. all settings gone. takes forever to get it back to how it was.

the other day we had a huge hail storm. lost its memory. I have it plugged it into a nice panamax surge suppressor, i have no idea if the hail storm is a coincidence, but im not looking forward to resetting it. Maybe this time i will will write it all down; im sure its gonna happen again.

anyone know what causes this? I design electronics for a living, and the EEPROM memory I use does not die, at all, period, and my products cost significantly less than a 1068.

what causes this? anything i can do?

    thanks

    Hi,

You can go into the menu and once you have created your own settings save them?

Did you do this last time? If so did it wipe them out as well or can you just tell it to restore them?

    Steff

EDIT: Oh PS mine did a similar thing once about six months ago, has been fince since.

Save them? Is there a save command? I just changed what needed to be changed (everything) and it kept the info.

Using the On Screen Display (OSD).

        Via the remote...

        Menu
        Enter
        Goto Default
        Then the user default settings...

I cannot remember how to set it without looking at the manual so have a look at your manual but I think you change the "set user default" to yes to set it I presume then user default "yes" to choose it later.. Not sure!!

But basically "user default" is what you need to play with.

I'm the same way with this. I have to look at the manual every time. The on-screen interface doesn't make it clear which does which, and if you choose the wrong one, you've just blown away the very settings that you're trying to save. Rotel really needs to clarify this in the UI, such as "save user settings" and "recall user settings".

Improved memory backup software for 1068?
            by Bostonears
The firmware release notes for the RSP-1068 V1.2.3 to V1.2.4 include:
            "- Improved memory backup software"

Can anyone please describe exactly what this means? What's the improvement? Is the user interface for the backup procedure different? Or, is something changed about...

            Sanyo PLV-Z2 memory effect
            by amilder
            Hello all,
I've had a Z2 since March, it was working great up to about 2 months ago. It has developed a problem that has gradually gotten worse, to the point where I asked Sanyo for service.

The problem is this: whenever a high contrast image is on the screen for more than about...

RSP-1068 firmware update gone bad! Help!!!

            Hello Rotel owners/users,

I attempted to update the firmware on this unit today
which was originally running ver 1.1.3. Downloaded
the required files (ver 1.2.2), printed out the
instructions and followed them exactly as mentioned.
            The MTTY application is...
