    Upgraded My HiFi

First off just found this site Saturday as my 1066 died. Great to have like company.

As I pondered updating as my 1066 was still under warranty, I knew I had to so... I did Jedi mind trick on the wife and then
I found a thread where somebody had ver. 4 on a 1098 so I told my longtime salesman I wanted to upgrade to a 1098 w/ ver. 4 he had 2 and upon checking they were ver. 2. Now the sweet part take this one home and I will order you a ver 4, then we can swap them out.

Now I hook everything up meticulously I'm greeted with discomfort and frustration as my intimate knowledge of the 1066 hedged between us.
A day later a few helpfull phone calls a few more composite video cables later I am starting to settle in with her.

Is it love? well I think it will take time. It started as a sinfull lusting then it was a awkward meeting now its like we've met wanna hang? yeah ok.

I was very pleased at our dvda meeting with the doors LA woman
using the RDV-1060. She first pissed me off trying to find the bypass button
    But once configured its np.

I set my comp up to analog and coax so that zone 2 gets winamp
I have cataloged alot of my discs using monkey audio and they sounded very well thru the coax.

    I am powering a pair off B&W DM604S3's with the RMB-1075.

I would say the rest off my speakers are just sad reminders of the past.. a Polk center and sub and an ancient pair of rock solids.. But I mostly watch movies and play 2ch so i can wait for next years upgrades.

Come to think of it my B&W's on the back patio are probably better than my rock solids... DoH!

Are you talking about the new version 4 or the version 2? Have you made the swap out yet?

Well I recieved an email from my sales guy who contacted Rotel

      Official reply

"Your customer needs to have software version 2.1.8 installed to have the most up-to-date for their unit. At one point the manufacturer of the TFT screen changed and we had to have a separate software that had the proper drivers to operate the new TFT. This is the reason for the version 3 software. There are no new features and no improvements with this software. There was another component change inside the unit that required yet another software, version 4, in order for the unit to operate properly. The same features are present on all units with version 2, 3, or 4 software. The only differences are that there was something inside of the unit that required a small change in software in order for the unit to operate properly. You can assure your customer that there are no benefits to having one software over the other as long as they have the latest version of the type that their unit takes. In their case they need the version 2 software."

So I guess This one is mine 8)

        Welcome to the 1098 club :T .

After the theoretical break in period, the 1098 will improve.

        Regards,
