    quick preamp section Qs

    1. Are the preamp sections of 1055/1065/1066 the same?

    2. It is my understanding that 1055 with frimware 2.xx will pass HD 100Mhz or what ever the new standards require. Is that true? How do I check for firmware version?

    3. Are the preamp sections of 1056/1067/1068 the same?

    4. Do tuners really make alot of noise?

    5. Does 1055/1065/1066 have multi-room capability?

Thanks in advance....looking to see my options....

    1. Are the preamp sections of 1055/1065/1066 the same?
More or less yes as far as I know.

    2. It is my understanding that 1055 with frimware 2.xx will pass HD 100Mhz or what ever the new standards require. Is that true? How do I check for firmware version?
Correct but some V1's had the upgraded bandwidth as well. Press and hold the mute button on the remote and the firmware will be displayed on the screen.

    3. Are the preamp sections of 1056/1067/1068 the same?
    Likely yes...for the most part.

    4. Do tuners really make alot of noise?
Depends on how loud you have the volume....sorry bad joke. Typically yes they add a great deal of background noise.

    5. Does 1055/1065/1066 have multi-room capability?
    Yes they do.

Thanks Andrew....sorry for the barrage of Qs but trying to decide if I want to keep my HK 230 acting as a prepro for my 1080...or upgrade to a Rotel unit...

Thought of another one....I know of the Bass Managemnt issue with 1055/1066. Are there any ohter commonly known issues with the 1055/1065/1066 pre/pro line?

Not really there's some limitations on them compared to the newer units like no PLIIx and lesser flexibility for over all BM and cross over assignement etc but they're still quality machines.
