    I took the plunge today!

Yesterday I received the Rotel Encyclopedia. They ran out of them as door prizes at the B&W Diamond Series demo at Georgia Home Theater last week and Mark was nice enough to send me one when he got back to the office.

I had been on the fence about buying an RSX-1056 with plans of using it as a receiver then adding either the RMB-1075 or a used RMB-985 Mk II...or buying an amp and using my H/K AVR-525 as a pre/pro for a while.

The Rotel Encyclopedia pushed me to go ahead and pull the trigger so I called Georgia Home Theater today to give them the go ahead to order a unit and charge my card thinking it would take a week or so to get it. Fifteen minutes later they called back and said they had a silver RSX-1056 in stock I could pick up today. I had to wait two hours until I could go to lunch, but I raced over there to get it as soon as I could!

I also ordered my Paradigm Studios today (Rosenut finish, 40s in front, 20s in back & CC470 center). It will take a week or so for them to arrive.

When I sell my H/K AVR & Polk Speakers I hope to add either the 1075 or 985.

Even with the Polks, SACD sounds so much better...now its movie time!

I just had to share. Thanks to all of the Club Rotel posters...I have been reading this forum regularly and appreciate every post.

Congrats on the purchase! Those guys are great aren't they? I deal with Chris over there all the time. As a matter of fact, I need to talk to him about getting my plasma mounted over my fireplace.

Enjoy the 1056 and hurry up and get that stuff sold so you can add the 1075. Owning Rotel equipment is like owning guitars, you have to have more than one. (grin)

Good stuff man! Did you compare using the 40s and 20s for front mains? I thought when crossed over with a sub they sounded near identical. The 20s for surrounds over the ADPs was also something I preferred (which I see you also liked).

I would have gotten the 1075 though, then upgraded my receiver to a pre/pro when I had the cash. I bet your gonna love your new stuff!

      Congrats!

I'm about 50% music and 50% video with my listening.

I did audition them with a sub, but I won't use a sub for 2 channel playback. Most of my music listening is 2 channel SACD right now too. I also compared the 40s to the 60s and preferred the 40; I think the compromises in the cabinet design are more apparent in the 60 than the 40 and the mid-bass & lower frequencies just aren't as clear. I really wanted to get 40s in the back too, but that wasn't in the budget.

I am using a Denon DVD-2900 as my source (component to HDTV) and have a Motorolla 6412 HDTV Cable Box/DVR with DVI to my Hitachi 51S500. I am using coax for the DVD & CD and analog out for the SACD & DVD-A on the 2900 and coax on the cable box.

My cabling is pretty much all Zu.

I've got to tell you, the first listen it sounded a bit rough. I left it on with a DVD going while I went out for a bit and it sounded much, much better when I returned. It is making my Polk RT600s sing! I can't wait for the Studios now!
