RB 1080 half-dead?!?

It did happen on Monday night. I turned my system on and there was
no sound from right front speaker. I checked everything and it came down
to my RB 1080 amplifier. The left channel seems to be okay, the right
channel is dead. The technician will work on the amplifier later this week,
but I'd really want to know what to expect!?! Any helpful remarks, or
comments. I have to run 5.1 now with my RMB 1075 and it all seems to be
so flat and lifeless

Probably blew the fuse for the right channel, that'd be my first and quick guess... Probably take about 5 minutes to fix yourself.

Indeed I agree, it always seems to be the right channel that blows. If it continues to blow, then I would contact my dealer and request the mod from Rotel. I spoke to Rotel in reference to this issue, and they informed me to send it in (blown 4x's), but I have fuses on standby (upgraded to 8.3A, slow blowing). I'm just waiting for my vacation time (don't want to be without it) .

Open the case and look in the upper portion about 1/4 of the way back of the amp you should see two fuses, replace both even if they look good. Be delicate there are soldered wires around the fuse holder area.

Yes, relax, wait a few days then enjoy. You will get your 1080 back sounding better than it ever did, fully operational and fine tuned.

Hi Everybody

I apologize for my technical ignorance. I read manual, looking for wisdom, but
there was statement only about fuse in a fuse holder, so I lived under impression that
if this fuse was gone then I should not have sound at all. Meantime my 1075 works with 5 speakers. It is not bad in stereo, but the multichannel music and movies is a different story. It is simply not enough power for two mains and a center. There was no problem when it did run center, surrounds and back surrounds and main were left to RB 1080. The sound was really sweet. Well, I try to replace fuse tomorrow. Once again thanks for support

Everything is fine. I had changed the fuses in the right channel and the amplifier
worked for a while . After couple of minutes the fuse in the left channel went down. I replaced it as well, but somehow it did seem to me that it was related to the trigger action. I had removed the trigger wire from my RMB 1075 just before the left
channel blew up. I have started to use trigger couple days before the first accident. The line went from processor to RB 1080 and then to RMB 1075. Well, I promised to myself to keep my amps permanently on. Hope it will work forever. Now everything sounds great again
