I had to re-register (long story) and also don't have my 1066! It was sent to Rotel for upgrades (video bandwidth, double bass neuter, and firmware). I feel so naked. I might break down and go get me a 1098. :LOL:

Andrew, my mind's running rampant. But I'm such a 2ch guy who craves and craves inner detail and clarity, I'm thinking of getting a high-quality traditional preamp with HT pass-through when the 1066 returns. (I want to add there's nothing wrong with the 1066 in 2-ch analog bypass, as it does it admirably.)

Or, maybe an RB-1080 for the front speakers?

If you're not serious about buying the 1098 don't audition it or you'll buy it...seriously its that good I haven't AB'd it against a true analog pre amp but my jaw hit the floor when I installed it in my system.

What exactly does one say to their doctor in order to have their ears cleaned? Are you going to have your hearing checked while you're at it?

Well, I'm just going to ask the doc to get rid of the wax buildup. Would have to see an audiologist for hearing checks, however.

I'll have to talk to my doc about that. I've never had it done, but he's never said I needed it done either. I'll have to have him recommend an audiologist as well. I'd like to know how well I can really hear.

Let us know how much of a difference it makes after you get your wax removed!

Bill,

Walk into any audio hearing aid vendor in the major malls. All will place you into a quality soundbooth and provide a spectrum of your hearing. They are regulated so they have to be fairly precise in their analysis. They won't charge for the test. You need not buy an aid, but you may hav to listen to the pitch for 10 minutes along with your results. I don't know how old you are, but most men start loosing their high frequencies starting at age 30 and it's downhill from there. At 50, which I am close to, you can expect to loose most above the 15 mHz high frequency range. It would appear that SACD might be wasted on old tin ears.

PERFECT!! Something for ME to do the next time the wife drags me to the mall to go clothes/shoes shopping.

I'm 26 and haven't had it checked since freshman year of high school. I'll definitely have to be on the lookout for a hearing aid store!!
