    RVD-1080 question

I currently have an RVD-1080, I know it won't play CD-R's. My question is will it play DVD-R's? I am in the market for a new computer and was thinking about getting one with a DVD burner. What about the 1060, will that play DVD-R's?
    Thanks
    Jeff.

The folks who produce DVD-R as well as DVD+R recorders both claim that disks recorded using their formats can play in most DVD players. By most they mean that DVD players a few generations back - perhaps 3 to 5 yrs - will not be able to read and if your DVD can read CD-R disks (like MP3) then it will not be a problem.

That said, I have used a DVD+R/RW machine and I have no problem playing the disks on another machine (in the bedroom). One important feature to me is that you do not have to *finalise* a disk to view what you hve recorded unlike -R/RW machines so you can max your recording disks. Go to : http://www.dvdrw.com and for a comparison between other formats go to : http://www.dvdplusrw.org/video/comparison.html

Not sure if we have to move this thread to another forum

thanks for the replies. I didn't know their was a difference between a DVD-R and a DVD+R. the - in the first one is just a dash. It's good to known the 1080 will play a DVD+R though.

Audibility of stored energy distortion . . . not enough concern?
            by Deward Hastings
The thread on non-linear distortion (which I seem to have convinced myself that I can hear) leads me to a different question. I seem to be missing something in my understanding of “stored energy” in loudspeakers . . . where is the energy “stored”, and in what form is it subsequently released?...

Stored energy and coloration of soft cones
            by Ludvig
People are often talking about that paper and poly cones suffer from stored energy and coloration due to their soft cones.

            Stored energy:
There are however paper/poly drivers that have a very flat response. If we should regard a driver to have minimum phase behaviour in its passband,...
