    New 1098 owner ?

I just got a 1098 second hand a few days a go and I have a concern, when the unit is powered up the orange or red backlighting around the the function and volume knobs does come on, My unit is all black. I ran a video signal through it from a portable dvd player and the tft screen works but no knob illumination. I read through manual but it does not mention this. My system is not ready for me to test the unit completely. Thanks for any advice.

Shamrocklex; the volume and function knobs are not illuminated  ,its just the color of the inserts you are viewing.I have the same unit you have and am quite pleased with its performance :T .
Enjoy the unit and welcome to the forum

I mean the ring around and behind the knob not the knob itself, it looks blue on the silver units. Can you see this when the lights are low?

It's not illuminated, it's painted blue, and reflects when a bright light (such as a flash) hits is. Otherwise you don't really notice the blue ring at all.

Would be kinda cool if they did light up, though, huh?

My Onkyo DV-SP1000 has blue lights that glow around several of the buttons and it looks really sharp.

First of all, welcome to Club Rotel.

Secondly, the lights would probably cause some other issues such as excessive buzz, etc :E  .

                  Regards,

yeah, because we all know the blue light on the standby causes issues....

...and all they would've needed was 4 - 8 of them behind the knobs, and it glows... with an option in the menu/remote to turn them off and on.

                    All set. No problems.

                      RSP-1098 Function Knob
                      by gregoree
                      Hi
I am new to this so bear with me. I have just taken delivery of a new RSP-1098 and are a little concerned at the "Function" knob operation. All I have to do is LOOK at using it (exaggerated) and it skips past or back from whatever I was using it for ie. it is very, very overly sensitive...

Here is the issue. A recent SW upgrade puts a delay in the function knob. This really comes into play when I am labeling inputs.. as five clicks forward only takes me 4 places. (when I move the knob fast)

                      This really drives me...

                      1098 Function knob goes crazy
                      by PiDD
                      For all you 1098 owners...

How is your function knob acting. Mine seems to have a mind of its own. I can understand that sometimes it wont lock onto the next choice with one click. Sometimes it doesnt move at all, other times it moves two places. It also moves around on a press....

                      by DrBoom
Well, it's been almost 2 months now that I've lived with both my Rotel RSP1098 and my Parasound C2 and the time for deciding which I'm going to keep is almost at hand.(not that I HAVE to decide now for some reason, but I'd hate to end up with 2 processors permanently)
I actually own both of them,...
