    Ground loop hum on RSP1066

I had a nasty ground loop hum when I connected my Infocus X1 projector via the S-Video connection to the monitor out on my RSP-1066.I had the X1 plugged into a Panamax Max 1000+ at the side of my room. When I ran an extension cord from the Max 1000+ to my Monster HTS-5100 and plugged it into the HDTV plug the buzzing was gone. But if I ran the X1 with just the extention cord to the HTS-5100 the buzzing returned. With the X1 plugged directly into the DVD player's S-Video and unplugged from the RSP-1066 the buzzing also dissapeared.
I also noticed very slight vertical squiggly lines (noise) running down the lenght of the screen when I ran though the RSP-1066 and that dissapeared completely when ran directly out of the DVD player (Sony DVPS7700).
I run a 25' AR Pro series II S-vid cable direct from the DVD player to the X1.I was also using a Monster MVS1000 3' S-vid cable when I was passing the signal through the RSP-1066.
I hope this info can help anyone that may also encounter this problem.

Sorry to hear about the problem Claude.

Here's a recent link to a thread with quite a bit of information of tracking down ground loop hums and fixing the problem.

    Hope it helps.

Yeah, luckily I was able to track it down quickly and find a solution that worked but it could be quite frustrating for a novice enthusiast with limited experience.

Lucky is an understatement. I've read of people knocking their brains out in frustration with ground loop problems, which may or may not have ended up being a ground loop problem in the first place.

        Congratulations!!! :T

            Hello.

Just noticed this forum the other day. Great idea and people seem very knowledgeable.

I am upgrading to a Rotel system. Last week I purchased the RB 1090 amp to drive my PSB Stratus Golds. It is a great amp which sounds wonderful and looks great in silver. It reminds...

RSX-1067 buzzing with only speakers connected
            by Jay Sylvester
A few weeks back, I purchased a 1067 receiver from my local dealer. When I hooked it up, I heard a distinct buzzing sound coming from all the tweeters in my system. The buzz was volume dependent, but still quite audible at very low volumes. Since it was coming from all 7 speakers in my setup, it was...

[This is a long post, but it may be helpful to others that may have to deal with similar problems....]

I upgraded from a Denon AVR-2700 receiver to the Outlaw Audio 755 amplifier+Rotel RSP-1068 in that order, in two steps, about 6 months apart. When the Outlaw amplifer showed up with...

Major Ground Loop after Direct TV upgrade from Dish.
            by mitch57
Thank You Very Much Direct TV!!! I upgraded (or should I say downgraded) from Dish to Direct TV. I bought a new 50" plasma and upgraded to HD. I knew that this was one of the first things I was going to be looking for after the installation.

Low and behold immediately after he...

            Ground Loop Hum
            by chanlon
Any of you folks find the Rotel 1570 prone to experiencing Ground Loop Hums?

Seems that the Oppo BDP-95 connected via multi-channel analog creates the ground loop with the Rotel processor. If I disconnect the RCA cables, the ground loop disappears. If I use a cheater plug on the Oppo,...
