    receiver VS seperates

    Just a simple question fellas.

We all know that seperates give better performance than a receiver. However, since I have to order all of my equipment, I can't test these two options myself.

The question is how much better would be the performance of a combinations such as the RMB 1075 & RSP 1066 over the RSX 1065. Would it be a very significant improvement in terms of sound quality, and therefore, worth the additional investment.

I am also considering the Arcam AVR300 against the Rotel Seperates as it is much cheaper where I come from. Therefore I have to invest $600 over the Arcam just to get the Rotel combination. Is it worth the extra cash???? it is only 20Watts extra power,

    My speakers are

    B&W
    N805 main
    HTM2 center
    705 surround

    Thanks

Perhaps do you mean 1075 & RSP 1068? The 1066 is an older, discontinued unit.

Your Nautilus speakers are considered to be rather power hungry, so going the separate route might not be such a bad idea for you... This will also allow you to upgrade to a more powerfull amplifier in the future, while keeping the pre/pro (actually, I'd consider the option of getting the 1095 right away...)

As for the reciever vs separates question, check out my comment in this thread: http://www.htguide.com/forum/showthread.php4?t=11228

With your current speakers, I would go with the following:

        RSP-1068
        RMB-1075 (Surrounds & Front)
        RB-1080 (Fronts)

        Good luck,

          RSP-1066 NEW OWNER
          by Gadgets
          Hi all,

I just got here thanks to andrew's post in audioreview.com & i'm happy to know there is such a big community of Rotel products owners.

After many nights of crusing the web, I've decided to move on to seperates & started with an RSP 1066 & a nice 5 CH...

YARC - Yet Another Receiver Comparison (Arcam vs Rotel)
          by samurray
First off, has anyone spent time listening to a Rotel RSX-1055 with any of the PSB Image series speakers? (Image 4Ts especially)
The PSBs have solid, bass, smooth mids but the metal tweeter can be harsh with the wrong amp (say a Yamaha for instance). How would folks characterize the Rotel's sound....

          Rotel 1067 or Arcam AVR300
          by abba
I have a rotel 1067 receiver and it has been suggested by several people that this receiver was not the right choice for my B&W n805, htm7, cdm snt, and velodyne sub. They are saying the Arcam AVR300 is the right choice to drive my speaker system. Saying that it has more power and a better match....

New 804's, Arcam AVR 350 versus Yamaha RXV2700
          by fatswillie123
Features versus performance is the dilema. The Yamaha is loaded with features and cheaper than the Arcam. Is it snobbery, or is the Yamaha RXV2700 receiver really less of a product than the Arcam AVR350. Which receiver will treat my new 804's better. No comments about seperates as I have no space or...

          Upgrade to RSP 1068
          by jorgjean
I have acquired an ARCAM AVP700. For my taste it sounds too laid back. There is just no drive and exitement and attack in the performance. I am considering to change to the RSP-1068 from Arcam, as I was very happy with all the Rotel products I had so far (mainly preamps and poweramps, currently RMB-1075),...
