    subtitle problem on RDV 1060

    Hello,

I live in Europe and sometimes I use the subtitles in dutch. Yesterday I also put on the subtitles and I noticed that with some movies the subtitles start to flicker ( I don't know if that is the correct word). It goes rapidly on and off and if I look closely I'll see there are red green blue lines visible in the subtitles.

The dvd RDV 1060is connected to the RSP 1098 and then to the plasma through component. Is it possible that it has something tot do with the component?

I really hate it when I buy quality stuff and it doesn't work properly.

    Who has a solution?? Thanks...

    Hi Dennis,

I would not worry if I were you.

Yesterday I watched the Alamo (R1) and the subtitles went from yellow to blue, to purple, to gree and back to blue with purple outlining. My DVD player is connected directly to the TV.

I think some DVDs may have the subtitles not properly encoded or perhaps it is related to the RDV-1060.

I immediately tried a different DVD and had no problem.

    Regards,
    Olaf

      Thanks Olaf,

But it is strange that the subtitles are not correctly displayed. I have an old Philips dvd player and never had this problem.

Maybe some other 1060 owners can put in a reply so we know if we're the only two people who have this problem.. If so I'm going to bring my dvd palyer back to get it fixed.

      Thanks in advance

        Hi there,

Looking at getting a Rotel system.

I heard the RSP1066 at the dealer the other day with the RMB1095 and it sounded brilliant. I noticed the 1098 on the website and it also looks pretty cool, but was wondering if anyone had had the chance to compare them? Can you...

        RDV (1040,1050,1060) or RCD1072 + RDV?

Hi. I mostly listen to music but occasionally watch movies. Since I place more value to listening to music should I get separate CD and DVD players? I have read that some people notice a considerable difference when playing a CD on the RDV and the RCD. If the difference is big then I would be inclined...

RDV-1060: Flickering/double subtiles with DTS audio
        by nvdeynde
        Hi,

My Rotel RDV-1060 DVD player has a subtile problem with DVD discs when I select the DTS audio Track and turn subtitles.

8 ot of 10 discs have this problem: it are the movies that use small font subtiles like most of the wide-screen 16:9 one's.

        The subtitles...

So question for anyone that may know...
My last TV was a Sony RPTV. One feature I miss is that RPTV's ability to add subtitles to almost anything. If I had a DVD that had subtitles that I didn't like the positioning, I would use the TV's subtitles. If I had a DVD that did not have subtitles,...

I have a RDV 1080 but have had a few problems with It (picture stutters when playing DTS discs, subtitles showing even when they are turned off). I am thinking of changing to the 1060, Is anyone having any sort of problems with It?

        Thanks Kevin.
