    1068 sub test tone

    question on calibrating the 1068.

I an using a spl meter, and i have all 7 speakers at the same db. Perfect.

When i go to the sub output on the test tone, there is barley any output, and surely i am not going to set it to 70dB.

    Is this normal?

The sub works jsut fine while watching movies.

What's the volume level set on the subwoofer itself?

about 1/2, any higher and the whoel house is vibrating.

do you get a db level from your sub that is in line with your other speakers when using the test tone?

If you are using a radio shack sound meter, I think you want the weight setting at "C" not "A" A filters out low frequency.

I've also heard it's sometimes best to use Slow vs fast

Lastly, given the large wavelength of the lower freqencies, it is possible that some standing waves in your room are canceling some freqencies. For the main speakers, leave the sound level meter at the listening position, for the woofer, start at the listening postion then pick it up and walk around with it and see if it changes - if it does you might want to take an average of the postions, but you might also consider moving the sub if it smoothes out the response.

Hello. I have a couple of questions regarding the settings for the sub on the 1068 pre/pro.

I currently have my M&K VX-860 250 watt sub volume level set at Reference and also set to bypass its crossover settings in favor of the pre/pro. On the 1068 I have the crossover set...

Ok, here's my little makeshift 2ch. Stereo / HT setup so far:

          Rotel Rsx-1056
Klipsch RB-5 II's on stands (using as fronts)
          Hsu MBM-12

I've also got a pair of Klipsch RSX-3 satellite speakers but I haven't incorporated them just yet. ...

Sub Test Tone Level (should be) Fixed in RSP-1098 Upgrade
          by Aussie Geoff
          Hi,

It was suggested to me by one of my sources that the DSP EPROM update in the latest RSP-1098 firmware release (plus the native EPROM code in the RSP-1068 and RSX-1067) fixed the issue that many of us RSP-1098 owners had with the Sub level in the Test Tone menu being 10 dB too low

          Hello all.

I have a 1068. It appears to be working fine, but i want to make sure somethign is normal, so i can get it fixed (for free) if it is not.

When listening to just about all kinds of music, the sub output works fine, and the sub is working great.

A few hours ago a big thunderstorm moved through. I took a couple of power blinks. When it was all over, the digital decoder in my RSP-1068 is toast.

When decoding any multi-channel format, both the center and sub outputs have no signal. The center channel has a light buzz. It may...
