    1068 sub set up

    Hello all.

I have a 1068. It appears to be working fine, but i want to make sure somethign is normal, so i can get it fixed (for free) if it is not.

When listening to just about all kinds of music, the sub output works fine, and the sub is working great.

    But

when i go into the test tone menu...and go to subwoofer, there is no sound whatso ever comming from the sub. The rest of the channels are fine and I have the levels balanced.

My sub is a 19995 vinttage Klipsch sw-15.

Should I bring the 1068 back or is this normal?

As of now, i just adjust the volume on the sub depending on what i listen to, so i dont have a real calibrated sub output.

    HELP!!!!

    Hi,

What inputs is your RSP-1068 set to when you do this. I ad this problem on my RSP-1098 and it turned out to be becuase I was set to the multi-input before I did the test tone. I changed to a digital input and it was fine. Reason was that there is no delay / bass management processing on the multi-input...

One of the normal video inputs...not the multi input.

It is definitely not normal. On my 1068, the subwoofer test tone works like any of the others.

To verify whether or not the 1068 is actually outputting anything, as a test, you could temporarily connect the sub output jack from the 1068 directly into a channel of your main L/R amp.

You have the subwoofer set to yes in the speaker setup menu? Sorry for the dumb question, but just checking every possibility.

              More On Sub Set Up

ok, now my sub is set up properly.

I have all levels set up to 70db.

When listing to DVDs (espicall ymusic) the sub is out of control loud. what do you think? ive turned it down, but now its out of calibration.

its a big sub (klipsch sw 15) in a 15'x15' room.

              what do you think?

Ken have you used an SPL meter and a calibration DVD to check those levels?

Avia Guide to Home Theater is the standard by which all others are judged. Digital Video Essentials is alright but its LFE track is flawed.

Are the 1068 test tones accurate? When I used my spl meter with the testtones of the rotel and then verified them against my test dvd the side surrounds and sub where way of. The front channels were almost right.
