    Advice: RSP-1066 + RMB-1075

I've been wanting to set up a HT at home for a while now. I have a potential seller and he's willing to sell me his used RSP-1066 + RMB-1075 for about $1,800. I am trying to stay in the sub $2k. I can't find the retail price for the 1066 <discontinued> but the 1075 is about $1,100 at my local av store. I hesitate to buy the 1066 but i don't know what a steal deal is. What should I counter with?

    Thanks
    Alex

Unless you are counting it with tax, your dealer is charging about $100 more than retail for the 1075.. The 1066 retailed for $1500. Used 1075's go for $7-800, and 1066's go for $8-1000. So you deal is on the high-end of things. If he's local and you don't have to worry about shipping, it might not be so bad.

With all the improvements on the new line, you migh want to get a 1056 ($1300 new) now, and when you find a good deal pick up a used 1075 to add to it.

      Hmmm,
Sounds a little high to me...right now on Audiogon there are three 1075s from
725-800$...which is also what I suspect a used 1066 is going for or less. Also most dealers will sell you that new 1075 for $999 or less.As for the duo together...you're doing him a favor by taking both,so it would have to be a real nice price for me to buy them...so top dollar for 1075 used, would be 800...top price for 1066 used 700,so a steal would be under 1,500$.

          New 1075/1066 Setup Question
          by semicane
Recently replaced my Yamaha 5.1 receiver with a 1075/1066 set up. My question is whether or not I can use my multi room speaker selector that use to run off my Yamaha A/B selector(B setting) off of the 1075 amp. The components sound awesome in my HT setup, but I had three sets of small speakers in...

It's on the front page of Europe's Rotel web site, the Rsp-1066/Rmb-1075 combo won a comparative test on What Hi-Fi review.
Opponents were TAG, Myryad, Arcam, Cyrus, Primare, Marantz

These brands may not be well known in North America but here, in Europe, they are usualy considered...

          UK mag - review of RSP1066 & RMB1075
          by simonb68
UK hifi mag What HiFi recently reviewed the RSP-1066 and RMB-1075 combo and were impressed. Its only a one page review, and opinion in the UK is that this mag's reviews are sometimes 'influenced'.

However if anybody would like to see it, I'll scan it and email it to you, just drop me...

Interconnet impact on 1066/1075 sound quality
          by pbarata
I’m the proud owner of Rotel RSP1066/RMB1075 combo since February this year, much before it become the overall winner on multi channel pre/power super test on May edition of What Hi-Fi magazine. I wanted separates, budget was short and the quality/price ratio for Rotel combo was unbeatable.

So I am poised to buy a new AV amp.

I have looked at HK7500......Case too huge. 51 cm Front to Back and only a small rack to sit it on. Other than the case it was a reasonable unit.

Denon AV11SR (tempted to wait for the 3803) similar to above, but will fit on the rack without...
