I had been using an RSX-1055, RMB-1075 and redirect for rear centers. I was using Klipsch SF-2's for surrounds, and RB-2's for rear centers. I recently went to the RSP-1068. Was unsure about needing a 2 channel amp right away for the 7.1 so didn't aquire one. I am currently running a 5.1 setup. I do not miss the rear centers at all, in fact now I can hear the need for replacing the SF-2's with better suited "true" surround speakers. Their are vets on this site who may have had a direction b-4 they began, and got it right the first time, and then there are those like myself who are going about it thru evolution, from the bottom up if you will. For me half the fun of this hobby (addiction) is trial and error, tinkering, and so on. Reading thru some of the topics I find myself wanting to respond defensively, defiantly, but realize much of this is subjective to us personally. There are some fundamentals that apply no matter wich way our system preferences take us, wich can be learned here thru some reading. I guess I just feel the need to give a Kudo's to those who make this a place to call home and a place to share our growing pains. Keep up the good work Gent's (and Ladies) if applicable.

I've always been on the position that the room and speaker placement has to be correct for 6.1 or 7.1 to make a difference. A room that's not big or deep enough can surely be less focused with 2 more speakers back there.. A lot of times if the center rears are too close to the listeners, no amount of delay or volume adjustments can take your attention away from that set of speakers that are "right there" behind your head..

We've got salesguy's that try to sell 6.1 or 7.1 every chance they get.. There's some times I just refuse to install them because they are completely not needed at all and a waste of time and money on the customer..

B&W Centers in the Present Day?
      by 70sMac
I realize that this can get to be quite confusing, so I'll try to stick as closely as possible to what I've learned.

I did a search on older B&W centers and found a [very old] thread that involved comparing certain B&W center speakers to other B&W centers, which is what brought...
