Help!!! My RDV 1060 doesn't read anything

I need the help of you if anybody knows what happened to my 1060. I've been using it now for about five months without problem (only some not original dvd's gave me problems reading them). This morning I was hearing a Maria Carey DVD-R (recorded) that I have heard one hundred times without problem.

I was around home listening to the music (not seeing the pictures) and it seemed that the DVD had finished too soon, but as I had to leave I turned the dvd out and went away.

As I bought some new DVD's I tried to see them but it started saying NO DISK. I supposed it was the new DVD disk that was faulty, but I tried next and it was the same. The unit tries to read the disks for a long time and it says at the end NO DISK. I tried with CD's, recorded DVD's and original ones, DVD-Audio disks and all time the same thing. NO DISK.

I disconnected the unit from mains, connected again, set the unit to default, but nothing could make the unit read the disks again.

Anybody had this problem? If someone knows what the problem is and how to fix it it would be appreciated. Of course I'll try to contact my local dealer but today and tomorrow are hollidays in Spain and I won't be able to talk to them until thursday.

    Thanks a lot. Regards

    Vicente

Did you try getting some compressed air and blowing it in there, there could be dust on the lens and it's stopping the unit from reading the disc....!?!?

I had partially the same problem. Suddenly it couldnt read DVD-A's anymore. My tech support told me that there is always a possibility that the 1060 looses his memory (or his mind  :B ) for some or all formats. Mine is in the shop now to reprogram the memory.

I live in Bombay (India) which is quite a dusty/dirty environment and have to clean the lens at least every three weeks otherwise the unit refuses to load any disks, though in my case CDs usually continue to be recognised.

I have found a CD-ROM which actually has very tiny bristles that do the job perfectly without me having to open the unit.

Thanks to all. I bought a lens cleaner (probably very similar to yours, Olaf, it has tiny brushes), but the DVD player didn't work any better. Tomorrow I'll take the unit to the dealer, but who knows for how long they (Rotel service) will keep it until it's fixed.

I'm really upset. If it were not for the very good pictures and sound it has, and the matching with my RSX 1056, I would have exchange it for any other brand.

If you read my posts, I'm still waiting for Rotel Spain to send me the new software release (ver 212) and also didn't find any way to see the TV and the monitor both with color.

Maybe now they will have to charge the new firmware to recover the unit (if it is the memory that got unprogrammed).

If it is possible I will negotiate with the dealer the possibility of getting a new player with the new version uploaded, but I'm getting tired of having problems with a 1000 euros (US $1300) unit. My other DVD players were much cheaper and they didn't give me any problems at all, although they are not the same quality.

I'll keep you informed of the fixing.

          Regards

          Vicente

            Or perhaps a lens alignment?

            Keep us posted,

Sorry to hear the lens cleaner did not solve your problem. Hope they are able to solve your problem quickly.

Dear Rotelians, I need again your help.

After five months of use, my RDV-1060 stopped reading any disks.

I sent it to the Spanish distributor through my local dealer and they have agreed to replace it for a new one, but I just want to make sure the new unit brings the latest...

Remote (RR-1060) no longer working with receiver (RSX-1057)
                by smm735
I recently got a hand-me-down RSX-1057 from my father along with an RR-1060 remote but I am unable to control the RSX-1057 with the RR-1060. Both units were unused (and unpowered) for a couple of years before I started playing with them yesterday.

Before anyone posts it, yes I have...

                Gents,

I originally bought the RDV-1060 aiming to use it for both CD's and DVD's. Unfortunately the unit I received had some issues so I almost immediately had to give it back to the shop for repair.

After my RDV-1060 came back from repair (gone for a month after handling...
