Gents,
I originally bought the RDV-1060 aiming to use it for both CD's and DVD's. Unfortunately the unit I received had some issues so I almost immediately had to give it back to the shop for repair.
After my RDV-1060 came back from repair (gone for a month after handling it for only 2 days) I had the chance to use it over the weekend with my RSX-1056 and RB-1080. A bit disappointing I am sorry to say . There were still some serious issues with the unit.
Some had to do with this particular RDV-1060 (and I am sure they are not inherent to the player) but one issue, the noise from the drive unit seems to be a more persistent issue. It varied from CD to CD and from track to track but overall it was more than I would be able to block out when listening to CD (which is 80% of my time spent with the set). I understand the unit is first of all a DVD player and I would dare to state these generally produce more noise from the drive than a dedicated CD player, but I thougth about if over the weekend and ended up deciding that chances were high that even after another repair this 'feature' would keep bothering me.
Went back to the store and asked to swap the unit for a RCD-1072. Luckily the shop has excellent service and they agreed to take back the RDV-1060. From the left over change I got an Oppo 971H-E DVD player.
When the new Rotel DVD player is released I am sure I will have a closer look at that.
I am looking forward to receiving the RCD-1072 and I expect it to provide as much musical pleasure as the RSX-1056 and RB-1080 have given me.
Cheers,
Lennart
