Isolation Cones on RCD-1072 and RDV-1060

    Howdy HTGers!

I was curious if any of you have ever used Isolation Cones on either your CD or DVD players. Do they actually make a noticable difference in any way? Would you recommend 3 or 4 Isolators under the unit?

    Thanks a Bunch! :T

      Great question Joseph,

When Absolute Sound Magazine reviewed the RCD-1072, they felt that a good set of cones (and an audiophile power cord) was highly recommended. They used Goldmund ($$$) cones in their review, but suggested that less expensive cones would suffice. I don't use cones, and I have not upgraded my power cords. Do I need to? The stock power cables seem pretty beefy to me, and my players are on a Lovan rack which is supposed to isolate vibrations. ???

I've always wondered what they mean by isolating vibration. If stands isolate vibration, then where does the vibration go? Power cords I can see a good reason to go, after all, these equipments that we spend our hard-earned money should be well fed with juice to perform their best. But the little bit of vibration shouldn't make enough of a difference to justify the cost of "audiophile" cones. IMO.

          RDV1060 vs RCD 1072
          by Kemp
          Hi all,

Could anyone tell me the difference, if any, when playing a CD on the RDV1060 compared to the RCD1072. I was enquiring about the RCD1072 and the salesman advised me to rather go with the RDV 1060.

          Any comments will be appreciated.

What isolation devices are you using with your 1066 Pre/Pro?
          by Ron Reda
I'm planning on picking up some isolation devices for my 1066 and was kinda curious as to what everyone else is using.

I have been looking into various spikes/cones/half spheres with Black Diamond Racing's "Pyramid Cones" being of particular interest to me.

          progressive on RDV1060
          by sirbogey
My RDV1060 came back from Rotel with an exchanged tray. When I put in a DVD or CD, it takes like 10 secs for the disc to load. This was a matter of 2-3 secs before. What have they done to it?

Another question: I changed the picture to watch a movie in progressive mode. When I do that,...

          RCD1072 problems...
          by Boombox
          Hi all,

Maybe this is not the place to discuss this, but I have quite a problem on my hands. A couple of months ago I got me the RDV1040 at an excellent price. My aim was to go for the RCD1072, but I had budget constraints. Times have changed and I am in business for the RCD1072. However,...
