    Spades for RMB-1095: what diameter?

    G'day,

I thinking about getting some spades for connecting my speaker wire to my RMB-1095. What diameter do I need? The 1095 is back in its rack now, and I can't find the diameter of the WBT plugs on the Rotel site.

I use oversized 8mm..5/16 spades..and that's pretty snug,I cannot see anything smaller working very well. The cables that I use are not very flexible and using them with spades are a real pain anytime I disconnect and rehook...next time I'm getting bananas.

Thanks for the info. Perhaps I'll get some banana plugs as well, and see which works best.

            Somewhat OT, but...

What's a good place to buy really nice banana plugs? Instead of the cheap ones that Radio Shack sells...

Yet at the same point, I don't want to be paying an arm and a leg for...

So where the best value is what I'm basically saying?!

I have a lot of belden speaker wire that I am using and just need the banana plugs. I found some pretty good screw ones for 3.95 a pair, is that decent?

I haven't tried them, but the locking bananas I have been reading about seem even better. Gives a more snug fit, just the way guys like it!

                  by corysmith01
I just ordered some terminated speaker wire today. I upped the gauge to go thicker than I'm currently running and thought "what the hey, banana connectors would be a nice touch." My instruction manual for the 601's says this:

"The terminals accept 6mm (1/4-in) spades, bared

banana plugs or spades to connect to amp
                  by tboooe
Hi, I read somewhere that spades are the preferred method of connecting speaker cables to the amp because banana plugs causes too much of a voltage drop (or something like that). Can someone please explain why one or the other is preferred?

I've just assembled a system, consisting of using a denon 3805, running preouts to an rb1090 and a rmb1095 ( unbalanced).

I am only getting weak sound out of the main right and left front but nothing out of the other five speakers which are connected to the Rmb1095.

                  I read...

                  Spades to fit Rotel?
                  by probeski
As far as i know Rotel accepts 5/16" spades. I am thinking of getting Cardas Golden Reference Speaker Cables with cardas spades which can be either 1/4" or 9mm (designed for the typical oversized european binding post). Will the 1077 work with cardas spades or will i have to get bananas;...

Does anyone know if I can connect a spade type speaker wire to the 1095 amp? If so, what is the diameter size?

                  Thanks,
